Conchita Wurst is responsible for flooding that left over 50 people dead earlier this month, church leaders in the Balkans have claimed.

The Austrian drag artist, whose real name is Thomas Neuwirth, seized international attention after winning Eurovision 2014 with his hit Rise Like a Phoenix. […]

“This [flood] is not a coincidence, but a warning,” Patriarch Amfilohije of Montenegro said, according to e.novine.com. “God sent the rains as a reminder that people should not join the wild side.” […]

The Russian Orthodox Church has previously described Conchita as an “abomination” and that his victory was “one more step in the rejection of the Christian identity of European culture”. …

Thanks to Patriarch Amfilohije, I can’t get a certain Lou Reed song out of my head now. (And that is not to belittle the tragedy referred to herein.)

Funny, I don’t see any direct quotes in this article from the “several” (OK, two) religious leaders actually saying this person “caused” the floods. Think maybe the article has a misleading headline AND the writer is putting words in their mouths?

The best quote about the Austrian Freak came from Vladimir Zhironovsky:

“There’s no limit to our outrage. It’s the end of Europe. It has turned wild. They don’t have men and women any more. They have ‘it’,”

“Fifty years ago the Soviet army occupied Austria. We made a mistake in freeing Austria. We should have stayed,”

Scary when I agree with that nut.

No.

The Serbian article linked in there is hard to translate using Google, but Amfilohije is definitely referencing Wurst.

The Soviets are responsible for a great deal of the moral decline of the West. Edelstein should be pulling that log out of his own eye.

Lucky for them Klaus Nomi moved to New York, too far away to cause floods in the Balkans.

Rise Like a Phoenix

Somebody misspelled that because of his accent. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

old Lesley Gore hit from the 60s

Of course, Rush played Klaus Nomi's version as the theme song for gay updates. Rush had earlier used Gene Autry's "Back in the Saddle Again" for the theme song, which is funny too.

My favorite song with Lesley Gore singing is "California Nights."

The caption under the photo at the sight (I know, why did you look?) refers to a dude with a wig and a beard as “her”.

We are so screwed as a planet of idiots. And people wonder, if there are aliens in the universe, why haven’t they contacted us. Would you want to make contact with a race like us. Didn’t think so.
