Read this, it’s basically the whole thing in a nutshell.
Are you running on a Windows platform? Have you installed Silverlight? I just did a clean install of Win8.1, (I had to reinstall Vista, then the upgrades) and have only installed Silverlight so far. I haven’t installed Quicktime or RealPlayer, yet. Or iTunes for that matter, which would include Quicktime.
