Posted on 05/24/2014 9:51:51 PM PDT by This Just In
In an emotional statement, the father of a victim of the mass murder in Isla Vista on Friday night addressed reporters Saturday and warned families that it can happen to them too. "Our family has a message for every parent out there: You dont think itll happen to your child until it does.

I heard this guy..and I am very sorry for his loss, but blaming the NRA when this punk wasn’t even an NRA member is just plain wrong..how about for ONCE, I would like to see someone blame the MURDERER for HIS actions instead of the weapon he used..this scumbag CHOSE to kill people, he used a knife and a gun..will the families of those three roommates he slaughtered with a knife demand knife control..of course not
Half of the victims were killed with knives.
Guns, a car, a knife did not kill and injure today. An evil man did.
My condolences to the victims and their families.

Its a damn shame that there was no one who could shoot back and stop him sooner
The cops couldn’t even catch this murdering fool, they drove around following him for what, half an hour before they finally stopped him..I think Barney Fife could have done a better job
Perhaps he should lay some of the blame at his own feet. This guy was a hollywood director. Hollywood has for decades glorified gun violence. Then the same people who make these violence glorifying movies want to take the guns from those of us who respect the weapons we have and would only use them for lawful purposes.
I can’t think of a single NRA member who has ever gone on a self gratifying killing spree. Every one of them has been a lefty or the child of lefties. They blame society for their own failures and then take it out on society.
This whacko was apparently obsessed with violent video games, but where is the call to hold the gaming industry accountable?
The killer had murderous feelings toward women.
The father needs to face the fact that this probably indicates his lousy parenting skills and to stop blaming the NEAR.
A shame this won’t be echoed in the media, all you will hear about is the gun and the “Poor” shooter and how his life sucked..the true victims will only be used as a ploy to take away guns from law abiding citizens
It was the killer's decision and his alone. No time for politics its time to morn the victims
I am sorry for your loss but, you would absolutely be thanking God and the person who was armed and stopped that murderer, saving your child.
The Tsarnovs, previous ilk like the 911 murderers and future ones are solely responsible for their actions and should be held accountable.
Maybe I’m wrong on this...but from ALL mass killings of the last fifty years....has any NRA member ever participated in any of these?
There might be some guys who were hunters and accidentally shot their partner....but I just don’t think you can find a single episode of wilful intent.
They should have two phosphorus grenades in his car and lit a cigarettes while watching it and him burn.
Yes, this form of logic is astonishing. Disarm the population, and call ppl with guns.
Someone needs to find that short video of this atheist jerk and post it on every thread mentioning him.
If the surrounding citizens were armed, the insane shooter would have been filled with lead.
He let the NRA raise his son?
I’ll give the dad some latitude. His son was murdered today. I hope I never had to deal with such a loss. I believe he meant “...being a victim...”
The atheist jerk being the shooter’s so-called father.
If the victims were armed chances are some of them would still be with us.
The Left has and never will reciprocate your kind gesture of understanding.
Unarmed victims are means to the Left’s wicked end.
Right, I didn’t write that well
Earlier today someone posted a video of the dad doing a 2 or 3 minute light interview, and he is amazingly like his son as far as being full of himself, and he is an atheist.
“Maybe Im wrong on this...but from ALL mass killings of the last fifty years....has any NRA member ever participated in any of these?”
Their so-called “point” is that the NRA has prevented universal gun confiscation, which would have prevented these and all subsequent murders.
I lived in Japan for 20 years. I remember news reports of murders with umbrellas, steel rods, poison (dozens of people on that one), and, of course, knives.
It was obvious that their strict gun and knife control laws prevent murder. And if a 95lb woman can’t defend herself against a 250lb body builder, well, that’s what she gets for being so small.
This keeps getting worse for me, I missed that it isn’t the shooter’s dad, as the subject of the thread.
I’m doing some stuff right now and my distraction is sure being displayed on this thread.
... Bet that's a big relief to the shooters parents knowing that their son is blameless in the deaths of all of those people that he killed.
I made the same mistake. I thought this was about the shooter’s father.
This man’s son would be just as dead had he used a crack barrel 12ga loaded with 3” #00. He rolled up to the unsuspecting crowd aimed and fired.
They may not, but at least the would-be murderer would’ve be stopped and lives would’ve been spared. That’s the thing about law abiding gun-owners. They don’t defend life to try and persuade the anti-gun advocates. They defend innocent lives because life is to be protected and cherished.
What medications was the kid on. Bet it’s a long long list.
At first blush, I thought it was about the murderers father as well.
I haven’t seen any information regarding the meds.
“Chris was a really great kid, Martinez lamented. Ask anyone who knew him. “
Yeah, he was so GREAT he killed people. F your son and he’s roasting in hell. pc off/
MANY, MANY, reports of this guys mental problems to authorities and
authorities did NOTHING!!!!! Authorities NEVER even checked to see
if this mentally disturbed person recently purchased firearms!!!!! This
victims father is typical of a CA. liberal!!!I live with this crap everyday of
my life in CA.,!!!! I say the DAMNED authorities have a HELL of a lot of
responsibility here, not only were they warned by the family of the shooter
they were warned by one of his MANY phycologists and DID NOTHING!!!
Shooter’s father seemed to go beyond disassociation from faith, but instead appeared to ridicule the faithful. Narcissistic? I wouldn’t say no.
I know how it is here I have lived in California all my life this state has one of the most strict gun control laws of any state..its all run by liberal douche bags who hate guns..the second I saw this victim’s father’s face I knew he was a flaming lib..I understand, he lost his son but seriously, the first thing out of his mouth is to trash the NRA..how about trash the MURDERER who took his son’s life how about that for ONCE..how about blaming the police who was told weeks ago about crazy youtube videos and did NOTHING..his manifesto was 148 pages, ya telling me he was able to hide that kind of insanity from the cops..no way..for whatever reason, probably the fact that he is a rich lib from a wealthy family he was able to get away with it
Christopher Martinez was one of the shooting victims..Elliott Rodgers was the killer
Remember this is California, where they’ve already pretty much nullified the Second Amendment... how can they possibly get any more restrictive, except by going door to door and physically removing all guns. (Illegal immigrants would, of course, be exempt/s;)
I heard today an Anti Semitic murderer went on a killing spree at a Jewish Museum in Belgium..I thought a person can’t have a gun in Belgium, yet this killer had one..just goes to show, all this gun control BS is just causing more death..the bad guys will always get the guns, the good guys are the ones being told they cant defend themselves
“This mans son would be just as dead had he used a crack barrel 12ga loaded with 3 #00. He rolled up to the unsuspecting crowd aimed and fired.”
I can empathize with the father. That much grief brings with it the banshee keen of madness. I don’t know if I could survive it.
This whole series of mass murders is getting a bit suspicious, IMV. How many coincidences can stack up before it becomes impossible to ignore the stench of fish?
This crap didn’t happen fifty years ago, when it was so much easier to get guns and ammunition, and before the blue-nose ranting against booze had racheted up to its current deafening roar.
What has changed? Are there actually cold-eyed killers willing to create this incidents for the purpose of disarming—and subsequently destroying—America? Is this thread —http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/3159771/posts—on the money instead of paranoid?
Chris is Martinez’s murdered son. Elliot Rodger was the actual murderer. Don’t feel bad. A number of Freepers first thought the article was about the murderer and his father.
The government is, unfortunately, trying their best to stick it to the people.

“the bad guys will always get the guns, the good guys are the ones being told they cant defend themselves”
When I was a freshman in college, 1971-72, a professor called me up to his desk after class and said that he had been seeing bumper stickers that read, “When guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns.”
He then said that he didn’t understand what it meant, and asked me if I could explain it to him.
“He then said that he didnt understand what it meant, and asked me if I could explain it to him.”
Why am I not surprised?
