I know that I'm opening a can of worms, but I need some advice.
I'm in the market for some new camo. I have plenty, but it's all in storage. I've been thinking about replacing it with some military surplus camo, either marpat or flecktarn. Has anyone tried this, and if so, what were the results? I mean, it should still work, right? It's primarily to break up your outline, so my assumption is that it would still function just as well.
now I read the thread.
deer?
how bad are coyotes in that area?
lucky ya don’t have hawgs.. or ??
The Army is making changes to camo uniforms.

Big game, mostly.
We do have some hogs, but they’re rare. More common in the south of the state. I used to see them pretty regularly, but not so much now.
Cadpat works great. I haven’t come across anything better yet.

RealTree makes some fine camo for that distance, that said from what i've seen, Flectarn works as good as anything
I have childhood memories of my great-uncle calling up Turkeys in while clad in jeans and a Plaid shirt. His deer “blind/stand” was often the tailgate of his truck. He just had a knack for being in the right place at the right time and knew where to set up for whatever it was he was hunting for. He may have used magic for all I know...
Now, I’m not saying I don’t use camo - I do! I need all the help I can get (probably more than that) and I’ll still never be a fraction of the hunter my great-uncle was. So based on my personal experience, I think the hunter himself has more impact and influence on whether a particular camo pattern “works”, than the camo pattern itself.
That may not help your question, but I guess I’m saying you should just pick what you think will work best based on how you know your neck of the woods. I bet you’ll do just fine! Best of luck bagging what you’re after!
