25-yr-old naked man playing violin at courthouse jailed

Portland: A naked man, playing violin in front of a downtown Portland courthouse on Saturday, refused to walk to a squad car and had to be carried by police.

Police say they are not sure of the man’s identity. He told them his name is Matthew T Mglej and that he is 25 years old. Even the brand of the violin remains unknown. Mglej was jailed under the Portland city code forbidding indecent exposure. Police say they warned the man numerous times about his ‘lack of attire’, but he refused to dress himself or leave public view.

City police refrain from enforcing the code during Portland’s World Naked Bike Ride as long as participants keep to the designated route. The event draws about 8,000 riders each June.

My first though was this must be one of those dopey kids in Keene, NH. Portland, OR... was second guess.

There is a naked man playing the violin in front of the courthouse, and this reporter is concerned about the brand of the violin? Unless it is a Strdivarious, I don’t see what the brand of the violin has to do with the story.

I wonder if there was a robbery going down at the edge of the Courthouse Square and this reporter didn’t even notice?

Yeah, you’d think he’d at least mention what piece the man was playing, and whether his interpretation was any good.

—that was my first thought, too—followed by “bet it wasn’t a Stradivarius”-—

The jokes write themselves.

How did the police handle his instrument?

Was their first thought to shoot the violin?

Where did he hang his bow?

” and this reporter is concerned about the brand of the violin?”

unless the violin is under arrest the violin has nothing more to do with this story.

Yuck! Maybe the police do earn those pensions after all.

That was my first thought, too. However, IMHO most people would not know the answer to either.

Was this an intentional or unintentional pun?

Evidently he has no frets.

Was it on Martin Luthier King Blvd?

Sounds like a real f-hole.

Did he take a bow at the end?

Does he know all the positions?

I will refrain from making any puns about the erect sound post.
