And if so what did everyone think?

I noticed that all the Germans in the opening scenes were firing custom made left handed Mausers as well.

There was also a Battlefield: Vietnam. I learned so much about that war I never knew before.

Actually, I enjoyed some of the stuff about younger Hitler and Churchill, Churchill and Chamberlain. Holding my breath to see if tonight they’ll show all the Soviet spies in FDR’s administration. /s

I don’t think they identified them but they should have been French Renault tanks. They did look right but I am no expert.

Patton did ride the tanks into battle but according to his biography he was sitting on the front of the tanks and running back and forth to communicate as they did not have radios in the tanks.

I think they said Patton had light Italian tanks.

I love it and learning a lot. However, how on earth did history know of the British officer who had Hitler in his sites - but let him go? They knew the Brit’s name, so I’m wondering how they came about this account.

I think all those custom left handed bolt actions was a way for them to use the same film footage twice. Someone else mentioned that they seemed to have a shortage and reused quite a bit.

Well darn! You learn something new every day.

The Germans really did bomb Pearl Harbor.

It has been ok. As another poster commented I could do without either McNutjob and Panetta’s commentary. Last night they showed for the initial invasion of France an apparent frontal assault on the Maginot line and then went to a map showing some imaginary penetration of the Alsace-Lorraine and not the drive to the sea that cut off the allies.

Did not realize that Churchill fought in front line WWI after Gallipoli. That was interesting.

Read the first volumn of William Manchester's biography of Churchill, The Last Lion to get and idea of the amazing scope of his life.

It seems well made.

Yeah...at least it's an honest attempt at a new twist on actual history...actual history becoming fairly rare on the History channel...at least in prime time.

"It is OK but has some really obvious goofs such as showing American troops and German troops shooting Lee Enfields."

Sgt. Alvin York was supposedly using an Enfield when he won his CMH, but I know the Germans definitely weren't using Enfields.

It is misleading

Claims Wilson “kept us out of war” — the exact opposite was the case

Neglects to mention that both Hitler and Mussolini got public approval because they were stopping Bolsheviks from taking over German and Italy

Doesn’t mention that Churchill considered BOTH Nazism and Communism to be evil.

Doesn’t mention the plethora of Stalin admirers (and other Communist “fellow travelers”) in FDR’s administration.

Doesn’t mention that Lenin and Stalin were Communists
