Leftists have no shame or conscience, why would they regret?

It means scorched earth.

Yep. It's a Hillary term, and a feminist meme. It means for women to turn on everything they know is good, destroy it all and everyone they can reach, and never look back.

Oh, and to keep popping those anti-depressants and drinking booze, like their fearless leader.

Another one is “doubling down”.

Just one quick comment - it has always been a curiosity to me that people who ostensibly think little of religion and conventional morality seem so to crave moral absolution for the things that they do. One wonders why they bother except perhaps for a persistent feeling that they should care. Where “no regrets” refers to actions outside the individual’s control it’s perfectly healthy, I suppose, but where it refers to things that individual has actually done, it’s really “No conscience!” That’s a rather different thing. Just my $0.02.

The Left's Eight Commandments

I
Thou shall create an illusion of invulnerability shared by most members to foster excessive optimism and encourage extreme risks taking

II
Thou shall not allow any member to question the group's inherent morality; instead members shall be encouraged to ignore the ethical or moral consequences of their decisions

III
Thou shall promote collective efforts to rationalize in order to discount warnings, or other information that might lead members to reconsider their assumptions before they recommit themselves to their assumptions

IV
Thou shall reinforce stereotyped views of enemy leaders as too evil to warrant genuine attempts to negotiate, or as too weak and stupid to counter whatever risky attempts are made to defeat their purpose

V
Thou shall self-censor any deviation from the apparent group consensus, inclining each member to minimize the importance of their doubts and counterarguments

VI
Thou shall create and maintain a shared illusion of unanimity concerning judgment conforming to the majority view

VII
Thou shall apply direct pressure on any member who expresses strong arguments against any of the group's stereotypes, illusions, or commitments, making clear that this type of dissent is contrary to what is expected of all loyal members

VIII
Thou shall appoint mind guards to protect the group from adverse information that might shatter their shared complacency about the effectiveness and morality of their decisions

(adapted from Janis '82)

Taking OsamaObamaCare as one example....it’s understandable why they’d have no regrets. They’re all exempt...so it *us* who’ll have the regrets.

They also like to say that you’ll only regret the things that you didn’t do.

My memory is hazy, but I thought 'No regrets' was the theme song (Edith Piaf - the 'Parisian Nightingale') of the French Foreign Legion in the Algerian War. The French Government sold them out, and DeGaulle stabbed them in the back. Against the French Government's directives they fought against the Muslim insurgents ... they lost, but their theme was that they had 'no regrets'...
The French Foreign Legion - the impressive fighters of the France .... because they were ... er ... foreign.
(just joking - France seems to be demonstrating a spine in recent years. Its just that French-bashing is a national past time. Fun for the whole family).

For progressives, it is not about results or consequences; it is about intentions.

That way, they have no responsibility should their plans of action end in failure.

To me “no regrets” means: Do whatever you want because it’s all about YOU, never mind if it’s right or wrong, or anyone gets hurt.

It’s immature, selfish, and not based on reality. A “real” life is full of regrets (some big, some small), for those of us who are capable of realizing our mistakes.

You forgot 2 commandments

IX: Thou shalt obey the moral law of Good Intentions. It doth not matter if the outcome of thine actions is beneficial, merciful or good for it is the thought that count.

X: Thou shalt claim thyself to be beyond judgement because the Bible sayest “Thou shalt not judge” even though thou believes nothing else written in the Bible

“Je ne regret rien” - great song, poor philosophy - bespeaks shallowness and disregard for others.....

I have plenty of regrets, God knows I do. However, Jesus died for my sins and I’m forgiven, so I don’t need to dwell on them.
