A 19-month-old toddler was critically injured after a police flash bang was tossed into his bed during a police raid at a Habersham County home on Wednesday.

“It’s my baby. He’s my only baby. He didn’t deserve any of this,” said Alecia Phonesavanh, the mother of the child.

“It landed in his playpen and exploded right in his face,” said Phonesavanh.

The child is now being treated at Grady hospital and has a 50 percent chance of survival.

He must have had something in his hand.
But, as long as all the officers were safe, everything is OK. Right?

I don’t care how much anyone hates drugs, or how much damage they have done, “no knock” warrants and the use of SWAT teams (for ANYTHING other than hostage rescue) have done, and are doing, more damage to the republic.

“Know your target and what’s behind it” doesn’t apply to agents of the State for some reason?

Or is this rule not applicable when throwing a grenade into someone’s house?

If you have children, don’t manufacture or deal drugs out of your home.

If you’re a cop, know where your device is going and if innocents are likely to be nearby.

The child’s parents have contacted the GBI but were told no further investigation was needed.

Does that mean every official connected with this raid has resigned or been fired, with loss of pension and immunity to lawsuit, and that there will be criminal prosecutions?

No, probably not.

This made me so angry, I had to quit reading the Daily Mail. This world is insane anymore. That poor baby. Someone needs to get fired.

This article gives more relevant info:

http://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/toddler-critically-injured-police-raid-ga-home-article-1.1811117

“A 19-month-old boy was sleeping in a Georgia home with his parents and three older sisters when police entered, looking for a drug suspect. Officers threw a stun grenade into the boy’s crib, critically injuring the toddler, his parents say. The family, visiting from Wisconsin, was not associated with the crime, and the suspect was arrested at a different house.”

“Police were looking for Wanis Thometheva, who sold methamphetamine to an undercover officer Tuesday evening, police said.”

So, once again, police had no actual need to conduct a paramilitary raid, since they could have arrested the guy right when he sold them the drugs, or shortly thereafter. Or, they could have just staked out the house and grabbed him as he was entering/leaving. Of course, then they wouldn’t get to dress up like ninjas and play with their expensive toys. If a few babies get their faces ripped open, that is just the price we have to pay to let cops have their fun.

There are no blameless parties here, except the child.

I heard it on the radio this morning. The police promised “they’d do better next time.” No sh!t! They actually said this on the radio. Meanwhile, the toddler whose playpen became a flash/bang target is in the ICU with a 50/50 chance of surviving with half its face torn off.

However, folks, the most important take away from all of this is that this toddler’s parents were drug dealers as reported by a police CI, AND.....get this, AND....all the police swatters went home that night safely. That’s the important thing.

Never mind the fact that the family van was parked outside the house with car seats in it....you can’t expect SWATTERS and CIs to have any situational awareness when it comes to no-knock violent entries......

“If you’re a cop, know where your device is going and if innocents are likely to be nearby.”

How about, if you’re a cop, and want to enter a home, get a warrant and serve it in the proper manner?

That’s not true. The parents were just visitors from out of town, they were not suspects.

I’m sorry I went off on you. Really. I was being totally sarcastic. I am so pissed off and made a bunch of Rambo skinhead SWATs did what they do best - kill. They had NO SI, they had no reason for a NK, they had no reason at all for what they did. And, they likely killed a 19 month old child showing how magnificent they were. I am so pissed.

Thanks for posting this. The poor kid goes through this for absolutely nothing. That makes me so angry.

I agree with you, no need for a raid.

No only did they severely injury the baby with a concussion grenade, the guy they were looking for wasn't there.

Warrants didn't used to be served like this. The bad guys got caught anyway.

It's time to de-militarize the police.
