How would you spend your 92nd birthday? Would you record a heavy metal album? Well, that’s what Christopher Lee did. This year, he’s created an album of covers of various songs in a heavy metal style as a tribute to Miguel de Cervantes’ novel Don Quixote. It’s called “Metal Knight.”

I have a Sherlock Holmes book in which the forward was written by Lee. I have since learned that he is considered an expert on Holmes.
He also portrayed him in film.
He's also a 6'5" tall world champion fencer, speaks six languages, does all of his own stunts, has participated in more on-screen sword fights than any actor in history, served for five years defending democracy from global fascism as a British Commando blowing the **** out of Nazi asses in World War II, and became the oldest person to ever record lead vocals on a heavy metal track when, at the age of 88, he wrote, performed on, and released a progressive symphonic power metal EP about the life of Charlemagne (because why the **** not?).

Robert Hardy (Cornelius Fudge, Siegfried Farnon, and a zillion other roles) is a world-acknowledged expert on the English longbow. My library had his incredibly detailed books.
The record sounds cool. The “Toreador” cover is nice and ... bullish.
“Horror Express” classic, I just again last month.

He had to lose 40lbs in order to be in the latest Star Wars film.......
What a great team: Lee and Cushing. I understand they were close friends as well as professional colleagues.
Massively researched and dense, but worth the effort. I think it’s great that a person with an enthusiasm like that can devote years to it and produce books that make their research accessible to everyone.
Christopher Lee was also an RAF pilot (Hurricanes and P-51 Mustangs, No. Africa). In his book, roughly entitled “The Good, the Bad and the Gruesome”.
A real gentlemen and excellent speaker on “the theatre”. Met him years ago. Really an awesome person.
