So they said on TV today that Donald Sterling is suffering from dementia and had diminished cognitive abilities. Doesn't this mean that he is a sick and cannot comprehend what is currently happening with his situation. So lets break it down: a mentally handicapped person is secretly taped making statements that he may or may not understand and goes on TV and does the same. Shouldn't the concern be with his health and mental well-being. If he was a drug addict or alcoholic (ok, lets face it, and not white), that's what the media would be focusing on. I feel this situation has gotten do out of control. At least his wife is laughing all the way to the bank.
Mr. and Mrs. Sterling + mistress = trash.....why does the MSM continue to sensationalize not very nice people? Money. Enough!
The whole story is a little fishy -- private recordings made public and used to gin up a controversy to attract public attention and give media types the opportunity to pontificate. I'm not sure the "diminished capacity" argument really adds anything or will change anybody's mind.
Hey, someone with a mo betta pedigree wanted what he had, so the league gave it their best shot to get it for them. If the new owner is not acceptable, I am sure the powers that be will find some way for their preferred group to “buy” the team. Kinda like Imminent Domain doncha know/
Everybody is quick to show sympathy for people with dementia. Unless they have been accused of racism, the unforgiveable sin.
Yeah he got the crap end of the stick
. Too incompetent to handle the sake of his business but competent enough to be held accountable for private statements. The first tume I EVER in my life heard my father say the N word was a few years into Alzheimer’s
I read he was diagnosed by private physicians after his outburst became public and he was canned and fined by the NBA. The finding has no legal standing but was good enough to allow the wife get control of the trust. So this diagnosis may be a gambit.
I don’t see the NBA getting their $2.5 million any time soon. In order for the pending sale to go through the wife signed an agreement that there would be no suit against the NBA. Sterling had already filed suit against the NBA.
Get your popcorn ready.
I was wondering the same thing myself.
Or another interpretation:
A guy with a long history of being a jerk finally gets the national press coverage that was bound to happen eventually and gets kicked out of his club for bringing bad PR, but he still makes a billion dollars profit on the deal, so really, not much worth crying about.
He signed over control of the team shortly after the NBA banned him for life. The wife’s not suing so the NBA won’t block the sale (they’ve wanted Ballmer to join the league for a while, he just never managed to finish a deal). And they’ll drag Donald’s lawsuit out until he dies. The show’s over.
