HOLLAND, MA (WSHM) -
State police rescued a golden retriever that was wedged under its owner's car after it was accidentally run over Sunday afternoon.
A woman was backing out of her driveway when she hit the retriever, which caused the animal to be pinned under the vehicle, according to the Massachusetts State Police Facebook page.

This story might be most noteworthy for the fact that the cops DIDN’T shot the dog :-)
Dog said “Thank you, thank you, thank you.” They said “ You’re Welcome, fella.” Then they shot him.
This is the first time I’ve seen a state trooper tattoo’d like that. I guess it’s a sign of the times?
How stupid do you have to be that you have to call the state troopers to get them to jack up your car to get it off a dog?
It ain’t rocket science, people!
20% of the public between the ages of 18 and 54 have tats according to what I have read. God, of course, says it is a no-no.
Exactly why call the police/fire rescue for things that can be done your self.
Farm/country raised folks know how to take care of things them selves.
A lot of common sense seemed to have been lost.
Some departments would require them to be covered while on duty.
I asked her, "How many cat skeletons have you ever seen in trees?"
This white trash near our farm backed over their yellow lab/basset mix like that. Then they ran back over him when they drove forward as they couldn’t figure out how to get him out from under the car. Then they left him laying in their yard for 2 days. We rescued him and brought him home with us. Best dog I have EVER had.
If that had been me, in my panic, I probably would have called 911, Superman and even Ghostbusters.
Yay! yay for the cops and yay for the dog! Yay for the happy ending.
Now I hope doggy gets even with his owner and chews one of her favorite shoes. That will teach her!
I’m a consistent cop basher......and I thought this was quite a remarkable story.
Perhaps it will motivate other cops to follow suit.
Over Memorial Day weekend, we were out in the yard having a picnic. Our goofy black Lab was not on leash....having a fetch with anyone who would contribute a toss.
A local cop car pulled up to our next door neighbor’s house. They parked on the street and approached the neighbor’s house. Goofy Lab went to the edge of our property and stood there wagging his tail. As the cops walked toward the house, they slipped open the safety straps on their holsters....I’m sure thinking the dog was going to advance.
Scared the crap outta me....had the dog gone *over the line* to greet the men [in the dog’s hope that one of them wanted to play fetch]....I hate to think what might have happened. If he didn’t have the tennis ball in his mouth....he would have barked at the *strangers* in his ‘hood.
Hope the driver doesn’t have [human-kind] kids.
It once was the requirement that military officers have no tattoos showing when they wore any of their uniforms (including short-sleeved shirts). I wonder whether that requirement remains the same.
I would call the fire department to help. I am a woman, I would have panicked and worry about the car falling off the jack and on to the dog.
There is no shame in asking for help and I am glad she did.
