Detroit ranked nation's safest city – from natural disasters

DETROIT, MI -- While the city has seen some significant improvement in crime statistics of late, it could be a while before Detroit sheds its reputation as one of the nation's most dangerous places.

But in at least one national safety ranking, Detroit tops the list in a positive way.

Based on six categories of weather statistics from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, an analysis by insurance shopping network Homeownersinsurance.com on Monday named the nation's top cities safest from natural disasters.

Detroit was ranked No. 1, ahead of Charlotte, N.C., San Francisco, Denver and Boston.

"Detroit came out way ahead in all of our criteria, with only 3 major disaster declarations and four total declarations from the Federal Emergency Management Agency during the last 10 years," the website's analysts found. "Detroit’s position on Lake Huron regulates extreme weather patterns and also subjects it to colder temperatures.

"... Detroit residents may have several concerns, but natural disasters don’t top the list!"

No earthquakes, hurricanes, mudslides, or forest fires. The only real natural disaster in Detroit is democrats and that's really more of a national disaster. Winter is rough on things but that just happens.

Good news for once. I'm also surprised they mentioned a falling crime rate. An armed population saves lives.

You’re also very safe from nukes since nobody would waste an ounce of fissile material on the place

SAN FRANCISCO is the #3 SAFEST CITY from natural disasters?

My BS detector is lying on the desk screaming at me over that one.

Not that a natural disaster could ever top the damage from the man-made disaster that is Detroit’s city government.

Not to mention a significant portion of SF is built on landfill.

Um, the city of Detroit is on the Detroit river, not Lake Huron. whoever wrote this must not have bothered to look at a map. Modern reporting at its best.

Looks like San Fransisco’s saving grace is the mild weather.

The whole state is protected by the great lakes to some extent.

Yeah, it’s those man-made contingencies that can get one killed in Detroit.

I would argue that a complete takeover by Democrats is a worse “Natural Disaster” than any of the ones mentioned in this article.

"Detroit ranked nation's safest city "

Without qualification that makes complete sense in the inverted world of the Left.
