Eariler this year, models Nina Agdal, Lily Aldridge, and Chrissy Teigen went topless for the cover of the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue. But when three plus-size models, including supermodel Robyn Lawley, did a tongue-in-cheek recreation of the photo, it wasn't a satire – it was a way to show how women of all sizes can be sexy and confident in swimwear.

In what universe are all those ladies plus size models? Especially the 3 on the left.

Yes, very sad. So called plus size models are what women looked like and were cherished 50 years ago. Marilyn Monroe would be plus sized by our standards. Non-plus models are essentially flag poles.

Im in agreement BUT - there are a couple of horses in that pic - you don’t get an ass like that eating bean curd and sprouts.....the one on the right has a clearly unhealthy appetite, and the resulting diabeetiss (Wilfred Brimley hat tip) high blood pressure and subsequent effects will substantially shorten her life.

That's an often repeated myth, but it's not true.

Marilyn Monroe was 5'5", 115lbs, 35-22-35.

Nina Agdal, one of the SI swimsuit cover models this year is 5/9", 121lbs, 34-23-35.

They are effectively the same proportions, except that Agdal is 7% taller and 6% heavier.

I’ve noticed that almost all leading actresses under 40 are slender and small-busted. The only celebrity women who seem to be curvy are the reality-show types like Snookie and Kim Kardashian.

'Plus size' women are as "sexy" as 'big & tall' men.

You can put a dress & a pair of pumps on your uncle and call him auntie but he'll still be your uncle.

Well to paraphrase the late Johnny Cochran

If those are accurate stats for Marilyn Monroe, she was much smaller than average, and a very nice shape.
