Brennan says no recidivism among Guantanamo detainees released by Obama
Washington post ^ | Wednesday, February 3, 2010 | Karen DeYoung

Posted on 06/04/2014 6:07:20 AM PDT by Fawn

None of about 48 Guantanamo Bay detainees released or transferred elsewhere by the Obama administration has participated or been suspected of participating in subsequent "recidivist" activity, compared with 20 percent of about 540 detainees released by the George W. Bush administration, according to White House counterterrorism chief John O. Brennan

This is going around about GWB releasing 540 Guantanamo Bay Detainees in 2010. Can we please sort this out so we have answers on why this is different than what Obama did??

Back to their favorite whipping boy, GWB. Why is Bush silent in the face of their relentless onslaught? Is he a coward or did the NSA get the goods on him or both? Inquiring minds want to know, at least mine does.
Another day another load of cows—t delivered from the White Hut to my computer.

The difference is simple and obvious.

Bush released detainees who would have obviously passed their CSRT.

Obama released detainees who certainly would not have.

238 years ago our forefathers told King George, a man far better than B. Hussein, to sit and spin. Think about that.

‘This is going around about GWB releasing 540 Guantanamo Bay Detainees in 2010.’
If I remember correctly Bush was well out of office by 2010 or did you mean that that is when the story first surfaced?

According to Rush Limbaugh, GWB refuses to speak out because he believes that former American presidents should not involve themselves in public life. When Rush said that it was affecting his base, he didn’t budge in his attitude.

No, I don’t think he’s being black mailed by anyone. For all his faults, he’s a gentleman. Of course, nice guys finish last.

Lies & Damn Lies!

Re: VA Scandal talking point about Bush's wars & wounded vets.

There have been more wounded vets in Barack's Afghanistan than 8 years of GW Bush.

Bush wasn’t in office in 2010, so that doesn’t work. Brennan is a lying POS muslim convert and part of the Jihad.

So, how many men have been held in Gitmo, how many were released by year, and how many were found back on the “battle” field by year? Should be pretty easy to fill in those blanks, don’t you think?

But his wife didn’t mind jumping on the pro choice bandwagon.

Maybe since it’s OK for her, he should send her out to defend him.

I hope that is not true, if it is we were led by a fool for eight years followed by a lunatic for what looks like eight more.
The hits just keep coming. One thing I will say for the leftist loons, they know how to keep their lies straight.

If I recall correctly, was there not something years back that the military, CIA etc., decided that capture was no longer the objective? I seem to remember that the tactic was changed to just taking them out because they weren't getting anything but grief out of them anyway.

It’s probably more likely that he’s just a true gentleman. I think he really thought his “new tone” would work until the end. Maybe there’s a weird combination of being decent, silver spoon fed, and average intelligence that he doesn’t have the experience to know sheer evil unless it flies some jets into some buildings. He still thinks 0 is doing the best he can.

Brennan still blaming Bush.

Here’s what he said in 2010...

“I want to underscore the fact that all of these cases relate to detainees released during the previous administration and under the prior detainee review process,” Brennan writes. “The report indicates no confirmed or suspected recidivists among detainees transferred during this Administration, although we recognize the ongoing risk that detainees could engage in such activity.”

Oh, I think the President of the United States who experienced 9/11 in real time knows “sheer evil.” And what’s with the “average intelligence” bit? As compared to who? A man who just invited a jihadist to speak in the Rose Garden and was then surprised that it didn’t go down well? Or a guy who was serviced in the Oval Office and doesn’t understand the meaning of the word “is”?

I’m not an apologist for GWB but I don’t buy into clichés about him, either.

I’m talking about the guy who looked deep in Putin’s eyes and saw his soul. While we all knew who 0 was when he became president, Bush was wishing him the best. I said, “He doesn’t know evil until it flies some jests into some buildings.” That he’s a man of average intelligence should be pretty clear to anyone with average intelligence. This is my theory of why he doesn’t recognize Hussein’s evil.

He was never, ever going to criticize either Obama or Clinton. That’s not what the Bush family does. The Putin remark was ridiculous and I’m not defending it. I don’t defend any of his many mistakes. But you have absolutely no idea about his intelligence and it looks kind of stupid to insist that you do.

The reason Bush doesn't criticize is because the are comrades in expanding Statism.

I have no doubt, if by some miracle Cruz or Palin is President in 2017, the Bush family will not hesitate to criticize.

Bush released detainees who would have obviously passed their CSRT.
Obama released detainees who certainly would not have.

Your answer seems to be the best explanation so far, but the Libs will just say that it cannot be proved that they would of passed the CSRT. Or they will say, Why didn't he go through with the CSRT to make sure.

They'll always have some retort.

Bottom line: Bush released people of whom the left would say: "There was no hard evidence! It was all circumstantial!"

Whereas Obama has released self-admitted ranking members of the Taliban and Al-Qaeda hierarchy.

We did release a lot in the early years, mainly because there were a lot who weren't the "worst of the worst" like the ones Obama inherited. Besides, I don't believe that none of the recently release folks haven't rejoined the fight... we just haven't re-captured/killed them.

A friend of mine ran the place for a year (during GWB's term). There are some really, really evil people in that place.
