My daughters friend didn’t have her seat belt on when she left our house,went to the corner on a busy road and was t-boned.
She slid(or was thrown) to the passenger side and received a broken leg.I can only think her injuries may have been more severe(?) had she worn the seat belt.

The photo in the article shows road markings. Also, the story says there were no indications of braking. Seems odd.

This happens occasionally in remote areas. I remember a few years back a mother and her son had a fatal head-on collision on their mile-long gravel driveway.

This almost happened to me about three years ago. I was coming home one afternoon in my suv and my then wife came barreling around the bend in my 2500 pickup. I evaded hard to the right and ended up in the ditch. When I finally got her on the phone she was absolutely smashed and barely knew what month it was let alone the day; she thought she had to pick the kids up. I sold that truck the following week and began the divorce process.

Wondering if even wearing seat belts would helped.

But then, not wearing seat belts; they both also could have been speeding and driving recklessly.

Not wearing seat belts indicate a lack of good sense.

• The victims were identified as Nicolas Cruz, 31, and Kristina Munoz, 26
• Both Cruz and Munoz worked on a farm nearby
• after one of the cars hit a curve in the road it “collided head-on with unit number two, which was travelling south on County Road 87
• neither Cruz nor Munoz was wearing a seatbelt
• Both the husband and the wife were reportedly alone in their vehicles
• there were no skid marks on the road, which would have indicated braking before the collision

Worked at the same place but travelling opposite directions at the time of the crash, no braking, no seatbelts, no passengers.

You may be onto something. Accidents don't seem to be a problem with these guys, and they're known for crazy driving!

I feel like I’m going to fall out of the car if I don’t wear a seat belt.

I remember as kids being all over the car on long trips. Absolutely insane, looking back.

Before the Texas seat-belt laws became effective in the late 70's, I was already beginning to wear my seat belt just to develop the habit. The few times I failed to do it made me feel very vulnerable as well.

I’m still not a fan of seat belt laws for adults. Seat belts are a great idea but a really bad law.

Michigan ditched our motorcycle helmet law but I don’t see too many people riding without them.
