Took my 14 and 11 year old girls to DC over Spring Break. We went to Arlington and saw the changing of the guard ceremony twice as well as the laying of three wreaths and the playing of taps. Fortunately everyone was quiet and reverent. my girls were transfixed by the whole thing.
Now walking from there to Arlington House and coming across a mess of rowdy high school kids and a chaperone who couldn’t care less was not fun...

My boys saw the Changing of the Guard when they were nine and five. It was the end of the day just before they closed the gates at Arlington, so there were only a handful of visitors; very quiet and reverent. It made a huge impression which they still remember 15 years later.
