Illegal disclosure of personal information, in this case medical, is a crime and should be prosecuted. However in this brave new world of Obamacare, it stands to become a whole new kettle of fish.
Imagine you are treated by a medical person for a disease or condition that can have an effect on your working life or insurability. This is now included on your health records which now appear to become a Federal database entry. Sometime later you get a call from the IRS about a tax matter. Can that IRS Agent find out this piece of information? The rules say no, Lois Learner and her merry gang demonstrate YES!
My wife works in a hospital administration office.
I read her this and she gasped.
Then she said they would have been all over this BEFORE it went to a lawsuit.
And $25 k would be cheap.
“And $25 k would be cheap.”
Yep, and that is why someone should take a real close look at her to find out if maybe she was involved with releasing the info so she could file a phony lawsuit.
Keep the damages low and no body looks.
Good grief! Can you get an STD from doing that?
Can you get an STD from doing that?
Depends how close you’re standing to the perp.
Extortion AND NOW blackmail.
Well, it is a social disease.
Patient confidentiality s vital for sure. This could bring her far more than $25K IMO.Yes,she could very well *be* a whore...literally or figuratively...but it’s not for a hospital to make that known.
That's true...never thought of it.However,if the place where she lives is as seedy as others here have described one wonders if she has the IQ to concoct a rather clever scheme like this.
The events described in the story either *did*,or *did not* happen. If they did the only other factor to consider is if the woman was part of some conspiracy, with the hospital employee(s),to release the info.If she wasn't this case is a no brainer...regardless of how much of a tramp she might be.
I did not know this...thank you for posting
Time was CDC requested the names of your sexual partners so they could be notified that they too may be infected and infecting others...
Now there is a push to decriminalize having sex with someone and not informing the partner if you have HIV/AIDS.
Ha
She wouldn’t have to be smart enough to concoct it just dumb enough to go along with it.
Yes,that could be true.I'd be willing to bet that the hospital's lawyers will be investigating everyone involved...twelve ways from Sunday...to check out your theory.I'd bet that they'll even check out her lawyer.Although maybe not....any crooked lawyer knows that this case is worth far more than $25K.
Probably cost more to check it out than she is asking for which could possibly mean there is another attorney trying to create a “pattern” of negligence for a much larger lawsuit.
You are welcome.
