Lone Survivor(Watching Right Now)
Vanity | 06/07/2014 | Vendome

Walking through Target and picked up the movie "Lone Survivor".

Saw this twice at the theater and both times cried, right along with every other man.

A moving story about true brothers, who would not leave each other's side, rallied their collective strength and held each other as men, doing their level best to help the guy on the right and the guy on the left.

Sadly, only one man made it out, through shear determination and an indomitable spirit.

But, not before more good men went to rescue them, knowing they were not fully armed, not fully covered in the air but, possessed by a righteous mission to help their brothers, as those brothers would help, no matter how dire the consequences.

A story of men who would do anything to save a brother.

No real thoughts but, thought it coincidental, given the current events and propitious to remind me that "Some Gave All".

I understand that some of the proceeds go to "The Lone Survivor Fund", a truly beneficent fund for men and women.

Loved it but wondered why they didn’t send a man out to make a communication connection with base before letting the Afghans go.

The only problem is that this worm gets part of your money also (the last sentence is the keeper):

Wahlberg had been in trouble 20–25 times with the Boston Police Department in his youth. By age 13, Wahlberg had developed an addiction to cocaine and other substances.[9][10] At fifteen, civil action was filed against Wahlberg for his involvement in two separate incidents of harassing African-American children (the first some siblings and the second a group of black school children on a field trip), by throwing rocks and shouting racial epithets.[11] At 16, Wahlberg approached a middle-aged Vietnamese man on the street and, using a large wooden stick, knocked him unconscious while yelling a racial epithet. That same day, he also attacked another Vietnamese man, leaving the victim permanently blind in one eye.[12][13]

For these crimes, Wahlberg was charged with attempted murder, pleaded guilty to assault, and was sentenced to two years in state prison at Boston’s Deer Island House of Correction. He served 45 days of his sentence.[12][14] In another incident, the 21-year-old Wahlberg fractured the jaw of a neighbor in an unprovoked attack.[15] Commenting in 2006 on his past crimes, Wahlberg has stated: “I did a lot of things that I regret, and I have certainly paid for my mistakes.” He said the right thing to do would be to try to find the blinded man and make amends, and admitted he has not done so, but added that he was no longer burdened by guilt:

He has more than redeemed himself from his youth. Redemption is a Christian value, but not one you see in play in these parts.

1. When you are compromised - it is time to exfil.

2. Triple check your comms before the mission starts

Read this warning from his recent movie ‘Ted’ and tell me again about his redemption:

Parents GuideDiscuss
Sex & Nudity
EditHistory
8/10

Frequent sex jokes and crude comments ranging from mild to graphic.

A woman’s sexual moans and the voice of a talking teddy bear also making sexual moans are heard; a man walks toward the sound and we see a bear thrusting, a woman’s legs are seen with her underwear around her ankles, it is implied that the bear is engaging in sex with the woman and we hear the teddy bear make a remark that is implied to be a sexual request.

A man makes a sexual remark about only needing “one minute” after a woman makes a sexual advance; the man pulls the woman down on a sofa, he is on top of her and they kiss.

Ted pretends to hump a cash register, implies oral sex with a candy bar, and uses a bottle of lotion to suggest being come on.

Ted draws on a woman’s breasts and proudly examples that the face of the comic cat Garfield looks like a woman’s breasts.

Four women that appear to be prostitutes surround Ted; they are wearing tight, cleavage-exposing dresses and Ted makes a remark that the women are “working girls.”

A man flirts relentlessly with a woman in a relationship.

A talking teddy bear makes an explicit sexual remark to a man about performing oral sex on the man’s wife.

A man asks a talking teddy bear if he had been engaged in sex on top of produce sold by a store, and the talking teddy bear elaborates that he had sexually pleasured a woman with a piece of produce that he later sold to a family.

A man and a woman make a series of crude sexual jokes about oral sex after a man remarks that he “does not swallow.” When talking with a man, a talking teddy bear makes a crude sexual remark about having sex with women from a certain city; he then makes crude sexual noises and moans sexually.

A talking teddy bear tells a man that he had sex with a woman; the woman makes a comment about the teddy bear’s sexual performance despite not having genitals and the teddy bear jokes that he has written many letters of complaint about not having genitals.

A man tells another man and a talking teddy bear that they need to have sex with a lot of women named Stephanie.

Behind a man’s back, a man says, “I’m going to have sex with your girlfriend.”

A talking teddy bear says to himself that he needs to have sex with a woman again.

The narrator explains that a bear had been caught eating potato salad off a woman’s bare buttocks.

A talking teddy bear makes a crude remark about a man trying to have anal sex with a woman a couple of times.

A man makes a crude joke to a woman that if he gets raped, it would be his fault because of what he is wearing.

A talking teddy bear half-jokingly remarks that a man and a boy could be father and son or lovers.

A talking teddy bear makes a sexual remark that he would have sex with an object if it were a human.

A man shows another man what appears to be a metal lump; the man explains that it is a man’s testicle that had been freeze-dried and then bronzed.

I go the the movies almost every week and am very broadminded and tolerant but “Ted” was one of the most vulgar, tasteless movies I ever saw,and I’ve been quite verbal about it.

My teenaged grand kids thought it was very funny-—which horrified me.

You seem to know quite a bit about Wahlberg. What do you know about Healy, Suh, Patton, Axelson, Murphy, and Luttrell?

Good God really??????? I would hate to be your Father or Mother...whatever. Sheesh you are very unforgiven. He goes to Church TWICE on Sunday once early in the morning and then another time with the family. He is one of the best people as well as actors in Hollywood.

I saw Ted twice at the theater and own it on Amazon Instant Video. I make no apologies. And again what does this have to do with the current topic. Bringing up old topics means you have nothing of meaning to give us from the thread.

Well, that movie was funny.

Clearly you have a general problem with Hollywood and this guy in particular.

You need to do some more research about how he lives his life off the screen.

We can agree to disagree.

Bingo.

The story and the men are the subject.

Not some cynic who can’t even walk on water.

Still watchin.

This is a long movie and then I’m going to watch the extra scene about these men.

Well, just, Damn!

Didn’t think I’d cry but, I did again.

The last battle is breathtaking, as I know his brothers have come for him.

To steal him from the enemy, keep him close, safe and warm...and loved.

Mohammed Gulob showed great strength and courage to a foreigner.

The scene of flag draped coffins and soldiers breaking down as they mourn a fallen friend. ..

Too much.

I think this film goes Schindler List for me.

It’s too much and I don’t think I can watch it again.

Made donations to Wounded Warrior and Lone Survivor Funds.

Incredible movie. My wife and I went to see it when it came out. She didn’t understand why SEALS do what they do. I couldn’t explain, but I understand. I have buddies I served with that would do such things. It is a hard thing to explain. All I can say is that the makers of this movie did a hell of a job.

I can’t remember the Bible verse, but it goes like a man laying down his life for his friend. Book of John I believe. That explains it all.
