A new research has claimed that money can ensure happiness.
The report on well-being has found that richer people rate their life satisfaction higher than those on lower incomes, which suggests that money can indeed ensure happiness, the Daily Express reported.
According to the Office for National Statistics which surveyed 8,000 adults, poorest 20 per cent of UK households saw life satisfaction at 6.9 on a scale of 0 to 10, while the richest rated theirs at an average of 7.77 and the more money people received from the state, such as housing benefit or jobseeker's allowance, the more anxious and unhappy they were.
The survey also found that the impact of unemployment or sickness appeared to be felt more by men than women. (
Even if money doesn’t buy happiness it allows one to search for it in many interesting places.
Have a friend who used to say that money cannot buy happiness but it allows you to be in some very nice places in which to be unhappy.
It can sure by a reasonable facsimile.

Up to a certain amount I think it can make one more secure which would tend to make you more happy. At least it could keep you from being miserable in poverty.
After 30 or 40 million it probably doesn’t add anything. I remember the specials on “The History Channel” about America’s richest and most powerful people in the 19th century.
The Vanderbilts, Rockefellers, Carnegies etc. According to the show their wealth in modern terms was in the hundreds of billions. I doubt they were more content than regular wealthy people.
This explains why the corrupt obama/holder regime is so intent on punishing on those who create wealth. Like their follow union thugs thoughout history such as Eugene V. Debs, Samuel Gompers and “Big” Bill Haywood, hussein obama and his today eric holder resent those who have prospered and achieved happiness. Their anti-business policies seek to limit prosperity and happiness. And they’ve done a swell job of that wickedness. But a Sarah Palin Presidency is not far off and with it, the return of American Exceptionalism.
The thing about easily getting what ever you want, is that those things then have NO VALUE.
Without value, they no longer satisfy.
Therefore, one must search for something new.
People who can buy ‘anything’ are only temporarily happy. They stay happy as long as their money lasts, and as long as they can dream up new ‘wants’.
This is the reason the powerful end up subscribing to the most perverse vices. ‘Normal’ no longer satisfies them.
It is hard to believe that fame and fortune create lasting happiness, as many of the rich and famous commit suicide.
Let's purse government policies that increase citizens' happiness.
Shoot, if I had no debt and a guaranteed income of $25,000 a year (without working, because I do have a lazy streak) I could be happy. Just knowing I could wander all over the world, live a year here, a year there... I mean, it’s my version of happiness, which is rather solitary, Spartan, and weird, but ... that’s all it would take.
In Western society one needs a certain amount of money to be happy.Enough for at least the basics.Maybe even enough for a little more than the basics.But a Ferrari rather than a sturdy Buick...or an 8 bedroom 12 bath mansion rather than a 3 bedroom Colonial ain’t gonna make you happier.
I guess the opposite would be dirt poor and we don’t have to experience that first hand to know that it sucks and leads to unhappiness.
Money allows you to live an imperfect life like everybody, but you get to choose your imperfect life.

Money buys happiness — if you spend on someone else
I think the mistake in this argument is to consider money alone. Usually, power and prestige goes with the money, and power/prestige is more of a drug with money a close second.
I think the Democrats depend on this anxiety to drive their voters to the polls.
