Could Johnny Football ditch the pads and cleats for a future on the diamond as Johnny Baseball?

Probably not. But he might want to consider it.

The Cleveland Browns quarterback was drafted by the San Diego Padres in the 28th round (No. 837 overall) of the 2014 MLB Draft Saturday.

Manziel was listed as a shortstop for Texas A&M, although he hasn't stepped foot on the baseball diamond since his junior year of high school. Apparently, he was a pretty decent infielder and even talked to Texas A&M baseball coaches about joining the team in 2012.

Oh PLEASE let me be able to crush Brown's fans hopes with this happy news. The hype gets me. Didn't enjoy the entire Deion Sanders chat until he joined the Cowboys and proved his worth.

Will Kaepernick be worth a gazillion once he's decleated? We'll see.

(BTW, I'm NEVER biased - much.)

The Texas Rangers drafted Russell Wilson....He actually made a brief appearance at their Spring Training this year.

I’m not sure what Torii Hunter Jr is doing. The Tigers signed him last season but he was playing football till he broke his leg.

At first I thought you were referring to the Torii Hunter who has been scoring runs in today’s game against the Red Sox. Ugh.

The radio annoucers also noted that Cal Ripkin’s son was also drafted today and Mariano Riveria son was drafted by the Yankees.

Manziel was notified hour later when they finally figured out which bar he was at.
