I paid a boatload of money to sit reasonably close to the stage at the first Hell Freezes Over tour. Two girls in front of me stood up and “shook their booties” (man, I sound dated) thru the whole concert. Since I’m not a guy...I was NOT impressed. Since I had to watch the entire concert on the jumbotrons...they have entered into my most hated list, whoever they were.

I kind of see what Henley is saying. But the times they are changing. He writes some great lyrics.

“How can love survive in such a graceless age.”

Mojo was right...and Debbie Gibson is pregnant with my two-headed love child.

So were the Milkmen...you know what Stewart? I like you. You're not like the other people...here...in the trailer park.

Saw Bruce Hornsby in concert at the Greek in LA circa 1988... absolute, hands-down WORSE concert I’ve ever sat through. Would have left after the first 10 minutes, but had to sit thru it, cuz parking was awful at the Greek then, and the cars were basically locked in.

He plays 1 billion notes per minute, with masterful genius as I’m sure he believes. He’s like Eddie Van Halen playing the same number of notes on his guitar, it just gets dull and BORING after 5 minutes of his musical self-gratification.

I could see many people near us were feeling the same as I, but couldn’t leave.

I felt like a steerage passenger on the Titanic, trapped behind locked gates to the open deck... “GO BACK TO THE MAIN STAIRWELL!!”

Liked one or two songs but that’s it. This is the 21st century, not 1975 guys. The pains of getting old sometimes run deep.

My understanding is that it was the OJ trial (people selling Tshirts and Winning ect...) but I won’t swear to it. Just what I read somewhere.

I have always hated The Eagles.

I don't hate them, but their music sounds like whining to me.

Gosh, I can't stand that so many people think the fastest player is the best player.

Don was the John Lennon or grouchy know it all in The Eagles. The other lead singer named (?) was the easy going approachable Paul McCartney character.

And Joe Walsh was Ringo, the humorous one.

I’m not sure I would care for a whole concert of Hornsby. Although the musicians I know think he is a master.

I did, however, see him in concert with Bonnie Raitt a number of years ago. He accompanied her on several songs.

When they did “I Can’t Make You Love Me”...her voice was so pure and his playing was so soulful...it nearly brought me to tears.

Glen Frey?

Before I saw your post, I had to do a search of Smuggler's Blues to find the Eagles' vocalist I liked best.

I liked Glen Frey's solo tunes also.

Don’s sounding like an old fart. When I go to a good concert I’m gonna stand and have a good time. If you go to sit you probably should go to small venue or just get front row tickets. What kind of singer wants people just sitting when he sings? With the ticket prices? He should shut it and be glad people show up.

Have never liked Henley, since he blabbed that he got Stevie Nicks pregnant and she had an abortion. That he sanctioned, not wanting the baby. Never bothered to tell her he was going to say it in a magazine interview. Henley is a gigantic ass.

1988? He has been around that long? Sorry to hear it. Been only to a few concerts where I regretted going, only because of the people in the row behind me, they would not shut up!!! Then there was a concert at the Greek with the Rippingtons, a real class act. Their front liner was a hard rock guitarist that made everyone wish the Rippingtons were back. He was so awful that I cannot even remember his name. It was Joe Satriani, and he was literally awful, twice removed. (Looked it up.) I hate that.

True fact is they {Walsh & Ringo} are brothers in law. They married sisters.

The music changed quite a bit after Leadon left, and in many ways not for the better. Leadon was with Gram Parsons and Chris Hillman (later of the Byrds) in the Flying Burrito Brothers and was a very important driving force of what in my opinion is the most important work musically the Eagles ever did. They had a lot of commercial success after he left, but IMHO little of it was as important.

Wasn’t Leadon dating Patti Davis when he left?

And Henley made his vast fortune how? A bunch of concerts back in the 1970's with some rather wild fans watching a wild band. Look up Youtube Hotel California. You'll see lots of flash bulbs popping off. Watch the facial expressions Walsh and Felder make at each other when in the instrumental portion. In an interview with Howard Stern, Felder later said he told Walsh "You're showing". That interview is on Youtube somewhere. Meaning their was Coke or similar around Joe's nose. Of course there wasn't. Don Felder said it just as a joke to throw him off. Thus the reason for Joe's weird face during the song.

I went to an Eagles concert in 1979 thereabouts in Norfolk or Hampton I can't remember which. It was loud then and I imagine a lot more was going on than cops allow today.

As for video's? Hey Henley turn loose of some video footage and sell it. The only thing on the market video wise is "When Hell Freezes Over".

I would be hard pressed to say who is my favorite since they are so diverse.

But they sure could (and do) harmonize beautifully.
