NEW HANOVER, Pa. (CBS) — Students at a Montgomery County grade school were served pet treats by a recess aide, school officials said.

The incident happened Thursday at the New Hanover Upper Frederick Elementary School in New Hanover Township.

According to a statement from Boyertown Area School District Superintendent Richard H. Faidley, a part-time recess aide at the school distributed pet treats to approximately 75 fourth grade students.

The statement says the treats may have been misrepresented as cookies or crackers. Faidley said the school was uncertain how many students actually ate the pet treats.

My cats like those!

Gotta break them into little kitty sized pieces, though.

They have got “pet treats” at Petco that look like reject cookies. I tried a few for fun. They probably are not kept as clean, but they taste fine. I am not sure what the big deal is. Kids eat worse stuff every day.

Kids always want to pet my dog on the head, so I ask them if I can pet them on the head and they say ‘No’.
So I tell them he doesn’t like to be petted on the head anymore than they do.
And I ask him if he wants a ‘Bacon strip’ because he won’t beg. Actually he’s very catlike, for a bulldog.
There’s really no point to any of this nonsense. I just like talking about my furry friend.

I remember long ago, back in the 50’s when girls had a birthday they would wear a little corsage to school, made of ribbons and bows, and hanging from them were either Hershey Kisses, or the little Milk Bones, or Life Savers..Everything always got eaten

Well, that should serve to keep the supplier of the pet treats honest. Good enough for Fido, a member of the family, good enough for little Johnny, LOL!

As modern-day school stories, go, this one is relatively tame (assuming the supplier passed the test — defined as nothing happened to the kids). As one kid noted,

I thought, wow, did I really eat dog treats? I was upset that our lunch aide, that we’re supposed to trust, who is supposed to take care of us, would do that to us.

Those who can, do. Those who can't, teach. Those who can't teach administrate!

Time to do away with gubmint schools.
