Alpha-male bear faces castration as sexual dominance ‘threatens survival of species’ in Pyrénées

For 26 years Pyros, a Pyrenean brown bear, has enjoyed life as an undisputed alpha male. But he could be about to pay a price for that dominance.

Following the birth of a cub who is both his daughter and granddaughter, Spanish scientists have declared his overwhelming sexual vigor is a threat to the survival of the colony.

Scientists say they must now choose between taking Pyros into captivity or castrating him—although they are not certain even the latter will prevent his dominant behavior from hindering the population’s recovery. …

Reminds me of a time when idiot “scientists” undertook a cull of African elephants that were uprooting trees—only to discover later that the elephants were permitting new growth to appear by so doing, and the scientists went and screwed everything up.

They need to move him to a new area. And move a boar from another area to this area. I assume the bears are scarce and needs fresh DNA to keep the pyranees brown bear population viable.

Or just make him the Speaker of the House!

We should warn the Spanish; this always happens to Republicans. Just give him a little time, and a sun tan, they will fall of naturally!

Issue trophy hunt permits for that bear and the issue is solved at a profit. AND - enviro-commies will be sooo maddened they might stroke out. That’s called a “Two ‘fer” in the real world.

;-)

The locals are reacting as they should and as American local leaders were too cowardly to so do. Note the following:

“The responsibility of a mayor is to ensure the safety of his citizens,” said Werner Dissertori, the mayor of the village of Tramin, which prides itself on the gewürztraminer wine it produces from steeply-terraced vineyards. “Unless the authorities get rid of the bears, I’ll authorise our hunters to start shooting them.

“If we wait until something happens, it will be too late. In Siberia or Canada there are huge spaces for bears. Here it is too crowded, there are too many villages. They’ve lost control of the project, which was misguided in the first place. They won’t admit that because it would cause public panic.”

Mr Dissertori leads an alliance of 10 mayors of mountain villages who are implacably opposed to the bears’ presence. “

I would like to see an American sheriff say the same thing. As the highest law enforcement authority in his county, when anything becomes a risk to human health and safety, he can act.

Bear steaks and ‘super stew’ time at that county’s next ‘Beast Feast”.

Yum! I’ll buy a tickets, airline and admission, for such a “Liberty Dinner”.

My thoughts exactly. Maybe Boehner can talk to him about life after castration.

Loop a scarf around his neck, give him some skinny jeans, some little hipster eyeglasses and a cup of Starbucks to carry around. Problem solved.

I don’t think that the bear ever engaged in sodomy, so the parallel is not quite there.
