Wife disobeyed, hubby says; he is mean, she counters
A Saudi man divorced his wife for disobeying him and buying a beverage can although she has given him four children, a newspaper reported on Sunday.
The unnamed man had repeatedly refused his wifes request to buy her beverage on the grounds he did not want her to have such drinks.
But the wife rebuffed her husbands claims, saying he has refused to buy her beverage and many other items because he is mean.
When the husband returned home one day, he found that his wife has bought a beverage can he immediately divorced her, Ajel newspaper said, quoting Dr Towfiq Murad, a family affairs instructor and Islamic affairs director at the Riyadh-based King Abdul Aziz University.
Oil superpower Saudi Arabia, with a population of around 30 million, has one of the highest divorce rates in the world, averaging 82 divorces a day in 2012.
