“Image” is quite taken out of context. God’s “Image” in the context of Genesis 1:26 is not appearance, but in how Adam was designed and constructed. Since God is spirit and has not physical attributes, Adam could not ‘look like’ God, but was endowed with a spirit and reason, as opposed to animals which do not.
