While Cedar Point was closed because of a water main break over the weekend, 16 of the theme park's employees were busy getting arrested.

Police from the park and the city of Sandusky say they arrested 16 people after a melee broke out in the employee recreation center early Sunday.

Jail records say the employees were charged with aggravated rioting and disorderly conduct. At least one was also charged with assaulting a police officer. 13 of them are from Michigan; three live in Ohio.

Police responded at about 3:15 a.m. Sunday to Cedar Point Commons, which is the park employees' housing area.

The park reopened Monday after being closed Saturday and Sunday due to a water main break in the city of Sandusky.

I haven't been to Cedar Point since the late 1950s. The Catholic Young People's Club of Dayton used to spend a weekend there every year. The boys slept in one big dorm room; the girls in another. Lots of fun swimming and riding. Not so much fun the next few days suffering from sunburn. I quit going the year I graduated from the Club (i.e.,got married).

When I worked there, mid 70’s it was mostly college students from OH, MI, and PA and they were predominantly white.

“The sinning tunnel,”??????
Freudian slip there????? “Spinning tunnel.”
I don’t think osha would allow any of those fun things anymore! Also, there was the Gypsy Fortune Teller machine, just like the one in “Big.”

When I worked there the seasonal employees were mostly college students ages 18-20. One of the people arrested is in his 30’s. Instead of seasonal, many of those on this list should be working year round back home. What do these “adults” do the rest of the year? Everyone I knew there that was seasonal left The Point at season’s end to go back to school.

FWIW, I can’t agree with making fun of a person’s name.

Cedar Point was just concrete, mediocre rides, and crappy food

I'm with you. I get it that people who like roller coasters and extreme-thrill rides (I don't) are really impressed with that. It's just about all concrete and congestion. For $3.00 or so I could get a Cleveland bus pass for the day and probably encounter as much adventure and thrills.

“FWIW, I can’t agree with making fun of a person’s name.”

It’s been going on for years-——I grew up with a girl who’s last name was Hoare. She survived.
