Genetic counselor to parents: Don’t like what you see? Abort.

I will always remember that look on her face. I knew it was not good news. We were expecting our third child. My wife, Samantha, went to our doctor for a routine appointment. Our first two pregnancies went perfectly. Not this time. After analyzing the blood Samantha provided, the doctor determined that there was an increased risk for our child to have spina bifida….

After we arrived at the specialist for additional tests… we met with a genetic specialist who did everything in her power to use words I had never heard of before. Illnesses, deformities and abnormalities: she laid out all the possibilities.

After she finished highlighting the relevant portions of her vast genetic knowledge, she must have sensed our despair…. [and] explained we could find out if our baby suffered from any abnormalities by viewing a simple ultrasound. And then she said this: “But if you do not like what you see, you can always get an abortion.”

At first, I was taken back. I thought to myself, “What did she just say?” Her comfort to a couple of troubled parents with a potentially embattled 16-week-along baby is to say that if you do not like it, you can kill it? I was disgusted….

The genetic specialist did not focus on the pain we would feel if we decided to abort our baby. No, the truth is that abortion advocates will never talk about the mental and physical anguish that parents go through after they “choose” abortion.

As a civilized society, how do we allow abortions to occur according to personal taste anyway, let alone at all? If you do not like what you see, you can just abort it. Got a girl but you want a boy? Just abort it. Having a baby will change your lifestyle? Just abort it. Not ready to be a father? Tell her to abort it. Your baby is not big enough? Your baby will not have blue eyes? Your baby has physical deformities? No need to worry. If you do not like what you see, you can abort it….

These unborn children are not things we can just throw away.

I do not ask God for mercy in regards to this after 40 years.

The American people will defend abortion till their deaths, particularly those who have already killed.

“But if you do not like what you see, you can always get an abortion.”

Very, very sad. Why not “if your child doesn’t meet your expectations by age (fill in the blanks), just get rid of them and try again if you want”.

Amniocentesis is done for this purpose more often than not.

Down Syndrome, spina bifida etc... If found, abortion. Very common.

The doctors push for it and even get mad if the mother does not want to abort a baby with spina bifida or other severe genetic problems that will lead to serious birth defect and short lives.

We have been at that point in society for a long time now.

With Obama care the pressure to abort imperfect human life will increase, or rather, the ability to resist will be compromised.

Bad joke, but plenty of parents of teenagers ... and the failure-to-launch 20-somethings ... guiltily sympathize with the concept.

Does this philosophy work if I don’t like what the “counselor” looks like? Late-late term abortion.

Philip K. Dick wrote a short story “The Pre-Persons” where personhood was legally set at the point where you could do algebra. So after-birth-abortion, AKA child murder, was allowed up to age 12.
Abortion vans picked up children without papers and took them to a “holding facility”, and children whose parents requested it could have them picked up and disposed of.
The story centers around a teacher who realizes that the children he is teaching better understand the soul wrenching implications of Shakespeare than the adults and says he’s forgotten advanced math, so he’s not a person anymore, in an effort to challenge their artificial definition of personhood.
Then the adventures begin.

It was a surprisingly touching moral tale from an otherwise psychedelic author.

The lack of tort reform and medical malpractice reform is one reason why doctors push patients with unborn children with deformities or even suspected problems to abort. There is no repercussion for the doctor is wrong. There is no lawsuit when the defective child is eliminated. Even if the mother says she wants the child, she still might sue if she can find a reason to sue the doctor, and plenty of lawyers will volunteer to help her do it.

Sorry, we went through some rough years with our son, who is now a new dad AND working AND has a home of his own. A few years ago, though, I did offer to shove his teeth down his throat .... Btw, it was appropriate.

Just read Jeremiah 7. As for forgiveness, there is one time that it was not granted in the Old Testament, again, nationally.

“However, the LORD did not turn from the fierceness of His great wrath with which His anger burned against Judah, because of all the provocations with which Manasseh had provoked Him. And the LORD said, “I will remove Judah also from My sight, as I have removed Israel. And I will cast off Jerusalem, this city which I have chosen, and the temple (house) of which I said, ‘My name shall be there’.”
“Surely at the command (mouth) of the LORD it came upon Judah, to remove them from His sight because of the sins of Manasseh, according to all that he had done, and also for the innocent blood which he shed, for he filled Jerusalem with innocent blood; AND THE LORD WOULD NOT FORGIVE.” (All caps mine) 2 Kings 23: 26 & 27 and 24: 3 & 4

No worries, I am not a communicator. Always assume people know where I am coming from and that is dangerous to say the least.
