More than two months after a woman reported being called homosexual slurs and beat at an Ypsilanti Township bus stop, investigators report finding no suspects and a slowed investigation.
Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Derrick Jackson said Thursday deputies still believe the 28-year-old woman was assaulted because she is a lesbian. The incident, reported on March 31, took place in the 3000 block of Roundtree Boulevard.
While a “Wanted” poster was released and tips were called in, Jackson said no suspect information of substance was generated.
“It will stay an open investigation for a while, but there’s no real leads on it and there’s nothing active on it at this point,” he said.
The woman told deputies she got off the bus in the area of Roundtree Boulevard and was walking through a parking lot. She was approached by three men while in the parking lot.
One of the men called out to the woman using a derogatory expletive for a woman as the group approached. He then used a gay slur when asking the woman if she had recently been on the news.
The woman was one of the couples married during the one-day repeal of Michigan’s ban on gay marriage. She had been interviewed in a media outlet.
According to deputies, the woman was punched in the face and knocked unconscious. She woke up on the ground with someone kicking her in the torso.
The men fled the scene after the woman woke up, according to deputies.
Jackson said it’s still evident to deputies that she was assaulted and the woman definitely suffered physical injuries.
“There was nothing to say it was made up and there was no indication it was made up,” he said.
Sheriff’s office officials stated the incident was a hate crime “related to the issue of same sex marriage.”
Tips were called in to detectives investigating the case, but there was nothing of substance that led to a suspect.
One of the men was described as white, in his mid-20s, between 5-feet-10 inches and 5-feet-11 inches tall, heavy set or obese and speaking in a low or husky voice. The woman said he was wearing a gray or black hooded sweatshirt and three-quarter length high top shoes.
No suspect description was available for the other two men.

Probably a hoax. Many similar incidents have been reported, and turned out to be hoaxes.
So did Randi Rhodes.
And claimed it was some right winger who assaulted her until video surfaced of her falling off the curb while blind drunk.
Self/girlfriend inflicted injuries, bogus hate crime.
Obese with a husky voice?
Could be another lesbian.
Hmmmmmm - How does someone refine a human height being between 5-feet-10 inches and 5-feet-11 inches tall? Come on 1 inch?
Yet still not be able to give any description of the other two aside from them being white.

The truth is out there.
Even if this did happen (which is by *no* means certain) the assault would be noteworthy and deserving of prosecution unless the pervert provoked the attack.As far as the slurs are concerned....put on your big girl panties,sweetie.I’m simply not interested and would vote not guilty to any “hate crime” charges if I was a juror.
Need me to provide a list of all the homos who cried ‘hate crime’ then it turns out to all just be bullsh**??
When the police get tired of playing her charade they'll interrogate her
and find the truth. Jail time would be appropriate. She could find many girlfriends there.
