Demolition crews on Friday burned down a luxury house that had been left dangling 75 feet (23 meters) above a lake when a decaying cliff gave out underneath the abandoned structure.
After a planned burn where crews set fuel-soaked bales of hay at strategic points throughout the house, most of the structure was reduced to ashes or plunged to the lake's coast within an hour of the fire being lit.
TV news helicopters circled over the house, that once had an estimated value of $800,000, for live broadcasts of the blaze, which took place on Lake Whitney, about 75 miles (120 km) southwest of Dallas.

Cost of demolition and CO2 tax on top no doubt. /s
Where is that 80’s song when you need it? You know the one...”Burin Down The HOuSe! by the talking heads,
Let’s blame fracking. Although it was more likely a leaking sewer or water line that caused the problem.
I wonder how California would have handled it?
CA would have imposed millions of dollars worth of fines, countless permits and survey visits from every government agency known to man for a dozen years after it fell into the ocean. Of course, then the owners would be fined for dumping in the ocean.
Any helicopters fly over Barbra Streisand, she'd file a lawsuit while sitting there on the toilet.
That’s the one! Back when that lead singer was The King of Cool.
I think the lake would really have complicated it in California, falling on the beach is one thing, but to go into a lake, that would panic California.
Bummer!
That erosion certainly made a bee-line towards the house!
Bush’s fault...LOL!
David Byrne is a freak that should be neutered
Latitude and longitude of the house is 31.904060, -97.408800.
It’s a beautiful piece of Texas right on the edge of the Hill Country. Been there many times. There are also some big ranches in that area.
