Actor Ed O’Neill ( Al Bundy ) said that Coach Knoll dropped him from the team in the last cut. Looks like it was in his first year as coach.

Chuck Noll was the ultimate Steelers football coach. No one like him since.

Rest in peace, Emperor Chas.

Huh.

Not a Steeler fan, but there goes a bit of childhood.

To the next draft, coach.

So the two people most responsible for the Steelers’ four Super Bowl wins in six years died 37 days apart.

Noll was of course one of the two. I bet some freeper trivia expert knows who the other one was. I’ll let that freeper answer.

Bill Nunn was that guy and while I always knew his name as being a long time Steeler front office employee I never knew the depth of his mark on the Steelers until I read his obituary.

These two were absolutely responsible for the Steelers dynasty like no others.

RIP to them both.

Correct! Or more precisely, the greatest scout in NFL history. Anyone know his name?

I am a Steelers Fan, thanks for the great memories you gave me Chuck Noll. The greatest team in NFL history, 1974-1979 Steelers (4 Championships in 6 years) RIP with your players that have also gone.

...and paramedics pronounced him dead at 9:55 p.m.

Off topic, but I didn't know paramedics can do that - I thought a doctor had to. I guess it varies in different cities. On topic, RIP Coach.

Gotta admit, those were the days. Great Rivals and great games. Tougher men played back then.
The players today maybe stronger and faster but compared to players back in to 70s they are sissys.
RIP Mr Noll.

And players back then didn’t make nearly what they do today. Heck, back in the early 70s I could afford to go to games.
