Kathleen Willey blasts Hillary's 'dead broke' claim

Kathleen Willey, a Democrat activist who with her husband, Ed, founded Virginians for Clinton and helped send Bill and Hillary to the White House in 1992, is blasting Hillary Clinton’s recent claim that she and the president left the White House in 2000 dead broke.

“For her to say dead broke. … I can tell you what it is to be dead broke and owing money,” she told WND in an interview.

Hillary Clinton, who has walked back her claim, told ABC’s Diane Sawyer she and her husband “came out of the White House not only dead broke but in debt.”

“We had no money when we got there, and we struggled to piece together the resources for mortgages for the houses, for Chelsea’s education,” she said. ‘You know, it was not easy.”

The Washington Post’s Michelle Singletary, however, pointed out that since the Clintons left the White House, they have been paid more than $100 million over 14 years. And when they left the White House, not only was Bill Clinton guaranteed a vast pension, but Hillary Clinton was not far away from a salary as U.S. senator. The houses Hillary Clinton mentioned were multi-million dollar mansions.

I’ve been near penniless a few times myself. If I could only been a 100th as broke as ben-hillary says she was at those times, I could have lived pretty well.

I don’t claim they WERE broke, merely that they had a lot of expenses and it was possible.

I do find it appalling that a member of the political class can seriously contend that having some difficulty immediately paying for two mansions constitutes extreme financial hardship.

30 years ago I was in the condition mentioned above, where at times I quite literally didn’t have food for my family. I did some work for a lady who complained bitterly about the awful economy and the great financial hardship she was suffering.

Her definition of great financial hardship: She was only going to be able to spend one month in Europe that year, instead of her usual two.

It was a little difficult for me to summon up great sympathy.

I think it would do anybody who aspires to political power in this country to live a year or two in real financial hardship.

What our upper crust thinks of as base minimum lifestyle is wildly distorted. The guy who killed those people in Santa Barbara cited his having to drive an entry level Mercedes as an example of the social and financial humiliation he had to endure, and that justified his rampage.

If the Clintons were really broke on leaving the White House, why not rent modest digs, put Chelsea in public school, and hunker down for a year while the fees rolled in?

The answer, of course, is they think they’re ENTITLED to a lavish lifestyle.

Chappaqua is one of those “old money” towns. The prop taxes on their mansion has got to be at least $20k. Years ago while the limousine liberals who lived there pointed their fingers of self righteous indignation at the South over segregation, Jim Crow, etc. Blacks and Jews had less of a chance at joining their country clubs as the Jets have at winning a Super Bowl.

There’s a difference between being broke and being poor that I think a whole lot of people, especially liberals, just don’t get.

I’ve been so broke several times I couldn’t buy food for my family, but I’ve never been poor. If I had thought of myself as poor, I’d be expecting to be broke tomorrow and next year and five years from now. That never crossed my mind.

For 20 years I owned a small, sturdy and cozy ranch house in an upper middle class suburb of Boston. This suburb, once pretty solidly conservative, had turned Marxist in the few years after I arrived.About ten years after I bought it my neighborhood became *very* hot and house values skyrocketed.Well, during this time a proposal was made to build a few units of "affordable" housing in a fairly small plot of open land.As you can probably guess, the locals went bat$hit."You can't do that...think of the dangers that increased traffic would cause for our children",they'd say. They were very careful not to speak their *true* minds..."think of all the unwashed minorities it will bring".

Also,if you have some free time google "Commonwealth Day School".It's a tale of the filthy racist phoniness of the brightest among us...the faculty and top administrators of Harvard University itself. In fact the student newspaper,The Harvard Crimson, did some pretty good coverage of it.The more you research this the more likely you are to puke on your keyboard.Boston Marxism at its most disgusting.

Or paste her face onto that guy walking through the flood water with a case of beer during Katrina.

I remember my parents telling me nobody burned crosses in the Bronx. Only real estate offices in Riverdale, Pelham Parkway, Soundview and other "good" areas that dared to show co-ops or townhouses to those "G-damned ni****s and "filthy sp*cs" as the phony libs still call them to this day.

And all the file cabinets knocked over and the contents strewn around. They just HAD to cause trouble for the Republican who was newly elected. And it cost US, the people, for cleaning up after them.

I’m pretty sure if not positive that a bunch of liberals got together and paid off their legal bills.

Willey goes way back with the Clintons. While serving as a volunteer in the White House and facing financial hard times, she says she met with Bill Clinton in the Oval Office to request a paying position. But instead of getting help, she says, she was subjected to “nothing short of serious sexual harassment.”

Distraught, Willey fled Clinton’s presence, only to discover that her husband had committed suicide that same afternoon.

Come on, WND, tell it like it was: Kathleen Willey was groped in the White House by Bill Clinton. And to say that her husband "committed suicide that same afternoon" is likely a bit of a stretch, too much of a coincidence when you consider that together with the whole Clinton history of multiple suspicious deaths of people who crossed paths with them.

Actually, I do believe they were in debt (due to smarmy behavior which cost them legal fees).

However, I agree with you. When someone is broke they rent a small property and work their way out of their situation. They were on the cusp of getting hundreds of thousands of pension dollars and millions from book sales. The TWO multimillion dollar properties were unseemly and an in your face move for all the little people Hillary claims she has been backing for so long.

Yes, I remember the brutish Broddrick situation for which he should have been locked up.

Many news accounts from the period describe Paula Jones as charging "sexual assault" which I guess I interpret as at least being touched. But other news accounts indicate only that..

He Took It Out

(sorry for the humor but the phrase itself indicates what a pathetic loser the guy is..)

Wasn’t Hillary a whiz in the stock market and could magically turn her last two thin dimes into millions overnight?
