Former Employee of 'Big Cheese' Wrote FDA Letter that Put NY Cheese Maker Out of Work

CNSNews.com has confirmed that Monica Metz, the FDA employee who wrote the letter that said "the use of wooden shelves... for cheese ripening does not conform to cGMP requirements," previously worked for Leprino Foods, the largest mozzarella producer in the world.

In other words, Metz, a former employee of "big cheese," used her position at the FDA to write a letter that would have obliterated the artisanal cheese making industry (or "small cheese.")

The FDA put at least one New York cheese maker out of business for "a 'repeat violation' involving aging cheese on wood," but the Agency now says that this is not the FDA's "official policy."

The FDA says that Metz's letter "was not an official policy statement" and "was provided as background information."

The FDA is also saying that Metz's letter was "an analysis of related scientific publications" even though in her letter Metz presented truncated studies which actually conclude the opposite of what she claimed.

Is the FDA really not aware of the science on this issue?

Here's where the plot thickens.

It seems that Monica Metz, before working for the FDA, worked for Leprino Foods, the largest producer of mozzarella cheese in the world.

None of Leprino Foods cheeses are aged on wood, Kim DeVigil, Director of Communications at Leprino Foods, confirmed for CNSNews.com

There was at one point a large mfia link to the cheese industry through the Bonnano syndicate. Wouldn’t be surprised.

The equivalent of being SWATed by industry insiders who have infiltrated the government bureaucracy. It must be nice to be able to literally destroy your business competition using the full might of the federal government.

Most American businesses are now “Too small to succeed.”, because they can afford to pay the protection money required.

Sen Warren is right. The system is rigged. But it’s government who does the rigging. And only big businesses, with lobbyists, attorneys and cash (er campaign donations) can play the game.

Long ago and far away I closed down a small head hunting practice in Connecticut over licensing requirements I could not meet that were designed by the large entrenched players to be difficult to meet by small executive search companies. I’ve moved on, but I hope Small Cheese figures out a way to sue the living bejeesus out of Big Cheese and Uncle Sam.

Monica Metz Mozzarella?

Something wrong there. Limburger, I could believe a little easier. Smelly, too.

A lot of businesses lobby State gov’t to require education and other licensing requirements, sometimes for simple professions, just to keep away competition.

Big government always and everywhere benefits the powerful and wealthy. In thousands of small ways, like eliminating small cheese-makers or other small companies through over-regulation, or in big ways, like nationalization of interest rates and money-printing to benefit Wall Street.

Foolish leftists either can’t understand it, or hypocritically lie about this fact.

Complete and utter Fascism.

If we stand still for this sort of stuff, we deserve what we get.

The government is completely out of control.
