College graduation is a special time in America, and its even more special this year if you are gay.
A number of public colleges and universities gave special recognition this year to graduating seniors who amazingly managed to complete their degrees while suffering the grueling hardship of being lesbians and homosexuals, reports Campus Reform.
Administrators at these taxpayer-funded institutions allowed gay students to attend this years commencement ceremonies donning caps and gowns with special honor cords.
Straight students do not appear to have been given the option of having special tassels.
The University of Missouri-Columbia hosted a separate but equal! lavender graduation for gay students.
We host Lavender Graduation to honor the accomplishments and hardships members of the LGBTQ and Ally population have had to go through on this campus, explains a description at the website of Mizzous LGBTQ Resource Center.
The announcement complains about repeated heterosexism, roommate and floormate disputes, assigned love poems in English class and foreign language tests that mark us wrong for the gendered pronoun use in the go on a date scenario.
All are invited to walk with us, no matter level of involvement or identities, and all friends, family, mentors, and people are invited to attend and cheer, the description adds.
Penn State University and San Diego State University provided rainbow-tassel options for gay graduates.
Many other schools gave special cords to gay students to honor their special accomplishment of graduating while gay including the University of Arizona, Montclair State University and Virginia Commonwealth University, notes Campus Reform.

All of this homosexual worship going on in this country these days is pretty disgusting. We’re all fairies now.
Words fail me.
Not surprised by this nonsense, unfortunately. Gay is the new homeless/black/whatever trendy cause of the moment.
I’m glad I’m past my college days. I have a feeling I would have ended up getting suspended for running afoul of some asinine rule or another. Especially while I lived on campus (good gravy, was I ever happy to get out of the dorms!).
Those MO people are still trying to apologize for the 2012 nomination of Todd Akin, I almost forgot his name.
We are coming to the day of “required” worship too.
The longer they artificially extend this the harsher the blowback will be.
One can only imagine why you’re friends with someone who “abuses her children.” Let me guess — so you can shed your grace upon her? Or at the least, bolster your own ego.
My Chinese friends who suffered adversity under Chairman Mao said it was the CONFRONTING and adversity that made them strong. They laugh at the trends in the USA of giving wide berth and calling attention to having pity on these poor souls.
Did I say friend? Overstated....sorry. neighbor.
Thanks for the backpedal. Ego, forward!
Why not just say that you are a big government lover and be done with it? I refuse to send my kids to a government run place. You obviously admire people who do. Mine goes to Catholic School (yep all 4)....I imagine you cringe at such a thing.
LOL. Keep making an ass of yourself.
Oh my God. Are you kidding? Are you telling me that you are conservative? I am stunned by your behavior. Seriously, you need to run to DU....you will be welcomed there.
Homos are now an exalted class, much like the eunuchs of old. Then again, anyone who knows history knows what eventually became of the eunuchs once the peasants had had enough of court intrigue and corruption.
You’re the 3rd (at least) person on this board that I’ve confronted about the your cavalier “child abuse” charge, and not one of you yet has had the balls to stand up for it. Every one of you backpedals.
But, by all means, engage in these juvenile baiting/last word games if you must. It SO bolsters your image.
I won’t backpedal. I wholeheartedly proclaim that sending children to public indoctrination centers (public schools for those who can’t interpret) is child abuse.
