Redemption is sweet: Spurs destroy Miami to secure fifth NBA title
San Antonio Exoress News ^ | 6/16/14 | Dan McCarney

The Spurs started Game 5 of the Finals poorly at the AT&T Center, giving coach Gregg Popovich an unsettling flashback to one of the worst moments in franchise history.

The Spurs trailed the Heat by 16 at that point, and visions of a return flight to Miami and squandered control were looming. But unlike last year, when fate conspired to steal the championship from their grasp, they simply would not be denied, crushing the Heat by 37 over the next two quarters and cruising to a 104-87 victory that capped their fifth championship and the most lopsided Finals triumph in NBA history.

The last game was the best because the Spurs got in a deep hole at the beginning of the game and still went on to blow out the Heat. They’re really throwbacks in today’s nba. Team play, not individual stars, won them the championship.

A big ole shout-out to the Spurs biggest fan.

While my emotions were ebbing with doubt, this fan repeatedly counseled me, weeks ago, this championship was in the bag. This fan is a rock.

I proudly take a moment to salute ReaganÃœberAlles as SPURS FAN OF THE YEAR!!

I would appreciate any of my fellow Freepers recognizing this fan's contribution to this historic championship.

I guess you need something to be proud of in your life, I wouldn’t be proud of the Sperns, I need something of tangible value but I understand you don’t have much going on in your own life so you live through the so called accomplishments of the Sperns.

For the record, again....

Sperns turned off the A/C for Game 1 after giving their own players the heads up the night before. Heat had that game won until James went down with the heat related cramps.

Heat took Game 2 in San AnPhonio, so the Heat actually should have taken first two..... on the road.

Refs clamped down on the Heat starting right off in Game 3. Refs/NBA wanted a Western Conference type game. Lots of ticky tack fouls and more than the usual flopping by the Sperns.

Another tainted result, not worthy of being called a championship, just like 2007 when the crooked ref and Stern gave it to them and the strike shortened year in 1999.

If I were you I’d just slip away and keep quiet about it. Ya got nothing.

You don’t hear much from laotzu except as it relates to the san anPHonio sperns, (named after their daddy, David Stern).

Laotzu one of those losers that lives through the accomplishments of the dirtiest, cheatingest, floppiest teams in NBA history.

It’s been fun to pull his chain for the past two weeks, but now we won’t see him much.

If the sperns wouldn’t have won he probably would have killed himself so maybe a life was saved by the refs and the nba last night.

Spurs were up 5 with 28 seconds left in game 6 to close it out LAST year vs the Heat and let it slip away. They blew it and they knew it.

I think also it shows what a good coach the Mavs have in Rick Carlisle, they had no business taking the Spurs to 7 games in the first round.

I still can't quite hear you.

Are you speaking directly into the Proud Purple Microphone? Maybe if you got your lips right there up against it.

The sooner you come in for your fitting, the sooner we get kinks worked out.
