Soccer is boring. It's too hard to score. The clock is too hard to follow. The teams opposing the USA are too good. People who follow soccer are libs.

Did I miss anything?

The game yesterday summarizes why people in US don’t really care for soccer as an every day sport...

US scores in the first minute... NO ONE scores again for 90 minutes... 2 goals in the last 4 minutes...

Sounds a lot like NASCAR... Watch the last 25 laps...

First of all, you don’t speak for me. Secondly, if the rules were changed (NFL-like) to make the typical score 35-24, you wouldn’t watch anyway. Just admit it.

Only Day 6? I could swear I watched a game that was at least a week long.

If you complain about low scoring in soccer, let me ask you this? What if in American football a touchdown was only worth a point?

I simply made a comment and certainly wasn’t speaking to YOU in particular... I have no issues with soccer and enjoy an event like the world cup...

I was commenting solely on an opinion as to why it may not be mainstream...

Lighten up Francis...

I’m unconcerned about the score or lack thereof and comparing American football to soccer is simply silly....

On ANY play in American Football, either side can score...

It’s just not the same... My comment was more towards the drought in scoring in that 90 minutes...

When you observe that there was a drought in scoring, you imply that the scoring wasn’t high enough. The comparison to the NFL is apt because the NFL has constantly changed its rules in order to make it easier to score. It sells more Cialis that way . . . .

And Thank You for correcting me... I’m sure you can get on with your day now...

The fact remains (people... as opposed to every person) couldn’t give a rat’s a$$ about soccer under normal conditions were it not for the world cup...

Post some MLS scores and start a discussion thread after the world cup is over... We’ll see how many people “care” about soccer as an every day sport...

I implied nothing... those were simply facts... There was a 90 minute drought in scoring...

The rule changes in the NFL certainly benefit the offense. That doesn’t stop the defense from intercepting a pass in their own endzone and running it back for a score...

Read your comment #5 again. It was an opinion, followed by facts, followed by something about NASCAR.

And if the game had ended 1-0, and you only watched the last 25 minutes, you'd have missed the goal (but not some scoring opportunities).

Please quit talking about a 90-minute drought in scoring. There was no 90-minute drought in scoring.

There was a long drought - 81-1/2 minutes - but three goals were scored in the first ninety minutes.

I can always tell who the soccer “fans” are in any soccer thread...

There were 5+ minutes of extra time in the first half and another 5 at the end of regulation...

So by your logic that’s 86 1/2 minutes between goals...

And technically, 3 goals were scored in 100 minutes...

Thanks for checking in...

I stand corrected and I apologize. There were 101-1/2 minutes between goals and you are right.

I was frustrated at the percentage of time that Ghana had possession inside the USA half of the pitch. We can't do that against Portugal or (especially) Germany.
