An accident in which a Tacoma police car ran over a man lying in the street Saturday will be forwarded to prosecutors after investigators interview the policeman or the man injured, the department said Monday.
“We’re doing a traffic investigation like we would for any other citizen out there,” police spokeswoman Loretta Cool said. “We don’t believe there’s any wrongdoing. It looks like an accident.”
Police said the man run over, Emanuel Andrade, a 22-year-old Joint Base Lewis-McChord soldier, was in critical but stable condition Monday. JBLM confirmed Andrade is assigned to the 7th Infantry Division, but further information about his position at the base was not available Monday.
The department has not yet identified the policeman, a seven-year law enforcement veteran.

It is really dangerous to lay down in a place that is a pathway for cars. They are very heavy. You could get squished.

I’ve never been to Tacoma but there must be better places to take a nap than the street.

If by some Strange Magic the cop really didn't see the guy he probably feels real bad about it. Just because he's a cop doesn't mean he would hurt a Livin' Thing.

Coming home tonight on the bike, I spied a doe hit by a car lying in a culvert on the mountain where normal people would have never seen her, suffering.I drove on a bit and then turned around. If I’d left her there, I’d have heard her all night and I just couldn’t drive away.
I called 911 and they dispatched a state trooper.
I thought he’d just shoot her but he studied her a while and said he’d stay with her for a bit to see if she was able to get up and get going.
He also mentioned the DNR and wildlife rescuers.
Even as a hunter, he was loathe to kill her unless she absolutely, positively had no chance.
IMO, God sent an angel for that doe, one way or another.
If she could live, he would make sure she had the chance.
If she could not, someone who cared deeply would deliver a merciful bullet.
At this point, I have no idea which way it went, up there on that dark mountain.
I did not hear a shot and sound carries a long way at night here, especially before the coming rain.
I *did* come home knowing she was in good hands and it has deeply touched me.
He was a man of great honor and infinite compassion.
They’re still out there.
I just wanted to share what happened with you.
I wish I knew how to contact his superiors and give him the praise he deserves, just in case they might start teaching all their troopers conscious compassion.
