Shock Claim: Police Officer Slit Dog’s Throat
The Daily Caller ^ | 19 Jun 2014 | Chuck Ross

Posted on 06/19/2014 6:52:35 AM PDT by mandaladon

A Baltimore police officer is facing felony animal cruelty charges after he allegedly slit the throat of a 7 year-old dog that had already been placed under control.

The incident happened Saturday, and Baltimore police officials announced charges against the unnamed officer on Wednesday.

Sarah Gossard’s Shar Pei, Nala, was loose over the weekend when police were called to catch her.

But after using a dog pole to round up Nala, one officer made a shocking move.

“Unfortunately, at some point after the dog was contained, one of our officers used a knife and cut the dog’s throat,” said Baltimore police deputy commissioner Dean Palmere, according to WBAL.

“This is outrageous and unacceptable breach of our protocol,” he said.

Nala’s owner, Sarah Gossard, said that she believes that Nala bit someone but that the officer’s actions were out of line.

“She was just the sweetest dog and would never hurt anyone. She was just scared that day and through all of those events – scared and lost, thirsty, hungry,” Gossard told WBAL.

According to WBAL, Gossard called the circumstances under which she was first told of the incident “sketchy.” She said when police first told her that Nala had died in captivity they did not inform her that an officer had killer her.........................Cops are going nuts...what's going on?

It does seem that the official reaction is also one of disgust, with charges pending on the officer in question. Good.

I think police departments need to get a more indepth psych evaluation before hiring or at least before taking new hires off of probation.

Name him. Shame him. Shun him.

“WTF? What is it with cops and dogs these day’z?’

It was a Shar Pai!

DUH!

It could have been hiding an extremely powerful fully automatic machine gun with a high capacity clip full of extremely powerful cop killer bullets in one of those wrinkles.

It keeps happening because of the lack of punishment of perpetrators. “I felt threatened” is too broad a criterion to be justification for killing a human or animal.

Calling police to catch a loose dog was the first mistake. But, that doesn’t excuse slaughtering it once subdued. Slitting a dog’s throat is an indication of serious psych problems with that officer, imho, to the point that he should not be on the force. Very inappropriate response to stimulus, even if bitten. What if this was some endangered species of wild creature rather than a dog? The full weight of the bureaucracy would be landing on his head right now. The full weight of something needs to land on it for doing what he did.

That dog is not dead. He is squirming and crying in agony. His blood is smeared everywhere. That cop is a dirty coward.

My mother (RIP) taught me to respect, obey, and trust the police from the time I was a little kid.

So much for that.

A person who can slit a restrained dog’s throat is a Sociopath.
You do not want this person to have authority of any kind.
Especially the kind that involves firearms.

Why are they NOT telling us the cop’s name?
Does it begin with Aamir?

I watch “Sounder” right after watching “The Yearling”, a few nights ago.
Many memories in both. The chance to show my son a Sorghum Mill was great.
My paternal grandparents had a Sorghum Mill. Love that syrup.
In Miami, 1946 , my Dad took me and my two brothers to see the movie, “The Yearling”. I was the middle son, age 12.

Too many donuts. Too much sugar can literally make you crazy.

Look at his eyes. He's a maniac.

And as for animal cruelty charges, that's fine, but what about mourning and suffering that the owner must go
through because this whack job wanted to "(expletive) gut" something, and he didn't give a flying fig what.

See Post #30. The JBT’s name is Jeffrey Bolger.

He’s a white man, and he looks unhinged in his photo.
You had him diagnosed before you even saw him.

Of course, that doesn’t make it worse, morally. But, legally might that also be an issue?

I looked them up, and the puppies sell for $400 to $700 each.   Heaven knows what an adult would cost.

Some comments on the site recommended Shar Pei Rescue to get a less expensive alternative.
