In parts of east Ukraine, a daily struggle to survive
Retuers ^ | 6-20-2014 | SLAVIANSK UKRAINE

Clutching empty plastic bottles, hundreds of people stand waiting for water in this besieged city, with the almost constant thud of artillery shells echoing in the distance.

More than two months after pro-Russian separatists rose up in east Ukraine, electricity and water have been cut off in this depressed industrial city, food is running low and half the population has fled.

Many of those who remain are getting desperate and local officials, echoed by Russia, warn that a humanitarian disaster is looming in east Ukraine as fighting intensifies between the rebels and government forces trying to prise them out.

"I never thought it would come to this," said Lidia, a woman of 58, standing in line near outside a water treatment plant in Slaviansk, a strategic stronghold held by the rebels.

"I have a daughter, a granddaughter, a mother who is 92 and cannot move and I have to come here and fetch at least 40 liters of water every day. And that's if we don't bathe. Only for drinking and washing clothes for the kid and linen for my mother," she said.

Does anyone think that Russia's taking of The Ukraine wasn't a part of Obama's statement to Medvedev, to let Putin know that after the election, he would be more "flexible?"

I know this is a rhetorical question, but why is it that NOBODY in the media (AKA "The Ministry of Propaganda) seems capable of connecting the dots between what Obama says, and what eventually breaks as a news story?

Obama, Hillary, and their minions bemoaning the "flood" of American firearms to the Mexican drug cartels, and shortly after, we hear from whistle-blowers that it's the government that's actually facilitating those transfers of weapons, and the regime stops mentioning it.

Or Obama stating that he would bankrupts utility companies who build or modernize coal fired power plants, then through executive action, effectively enacts cap & trade, legislation which FAILED in congress.

Or the failed "Dream Act" which massively failed to get through the dem controlled senate, so Obama halts deportations of illegal aliens, and effectively opens the floodgates of illegal alien children coming into the US.

Don't even get me started on ObamaCare, except that any democrat who ever mentions the phrase "law of the land" be branded a liar of the highest order, claiming that ObamaCare was the "law of the land" while Obama was making up the "law" as he went!

Obama's claim that in the the IRS scandal, there wasn't a "smidgen" of corruption. How did he know this, when the "investigation" was still under way (of course, the IRS IG claimed there were no problems before any investigation took place), and the head of the FBI could not name the agent in charge of the investigation, not the number of investigators assigned, nor why none of the plaintiffs against the IRS had even been contacted by the FBI.

The Obama regime, to whom symbols are more important that results, moved "heaven and earth" to recover a deserter from a terrorist organization not directly linked to the Taliban, in return for releasing 5 of the most dangerous Taliban leaders, and the White House's own "Baghdad Bob," serial liar Susan Rice, claims the deserter served with "honor and distinction." All the while, a decorated Marine veteran with PTSD rots in a Mexican Jail. A perfect symbol of how the regime feels about the US military.

To say that the Obama regimes is completely lawless is an understatement. Obama Obama's contempt of the Constitutional form of government (a Constitutional Republic) and his statements regarding activist courts (the Warren Court didn't go far enough) was fully demonstrated in his statement that he wanted to "fundamentally change" America.

I've said this before, but more and more, I'm seeing parallels between Obama and the ancient Roman emperor, Calligula.

Isn’t that the definition of a War Crime?

"I never thought it would come to this,"

Even the RATS will be saying that here soon. We're at the breaking point on so many fronts.

The water lines is inevitable for those in the city. The missing pension checks is inevitable for those outside the city. There are pros and cons for every situation but I'd bet there are less cons in the country.

This is Russia’s invasion and war, lay the blame at Putin’s door where it belongs.

Obama is a dangerous moron but he didn’t invade Ukraine.

He didn't invade Ukraine; he invited Central and South America to launch a Children's Crusade against us.

Not unlike the Camp of the Saints.

I followed the link to the Camp of Saints, and could not find a book review. Only that it is temporarily out of stock. What is it about?

Obama being what he is, is why Putin went after Ukraine.

Maybe the Russky terrorists should have thought about how they would supply their “people's republic” with water and electricity before they started their reign of terror. Do they expect Kiev to feed and clothe them as well as provide them with water and electricity? Where is the brave war hero Putin on his big white horse to help his loyal Russky subjects?

"I never thought it would come to this," said Lidia, who obviously did not read her own country's history. Russia has done worse to the Ukraine. It will no doubt do worse very soon.
