ohmygoodness! Thanks for posting this awful, yet LOL funny story.
I am very sorry for the child that was airlifted to the hospital and the others, of course, but this was quite a tale.
If it was really THAT close, they could have just walked home.

That would have been fun! We sat on open tailgates, and our parents rode on running boards. Having a mother named “Kisha” would have ruined us.

I’m sure this seemed like a good idea to her at the time.

... Witnesses in the neighborhood were astonished to see Young driving with the kids - ages eight to 14 - on the outside of the vehicle, and were even more shocked when four of the children were flung from the car after Young took a sharp turn. As the children laid injured in the street, Young kept on driving, apparently unaware that the kids had fallen off the vehicle. When Young finally circled back and realized the children were injured and needed medical attention. The most seriously injured child had to be taken by Careflight to a hospital in Fort Worth and remains hospitalized with a serious head injury.Witnesses in the neighborhood were astonished to see Young driving with the kids - ages eight to 14 - on the outside of the vehicle, and were even more shocked when four of the children were flung from the car after Young took a sharp turn. Texas was arrested after having the children - four of which were hers and two of which were a friend's - ride on the roof and the trunk of her Chevy Malibu for the short ride back home after swimming at the local pool, If that happened to me when I was 10, I would have considered her a fun, awesome Mom.

Oh for goodness sakes! Make those kids ride in the trunk like my dad made me.
“This is the special childrens section of the car.”
“It looks kind of dark, Dad.”
“No....see how this light is on?”
I let all the air out of his spare tire.

I’m thinking Velcro on the car roof might be the solution here. Cheaper than babysitters.

I had my own harrowing car ride today, my 15.5 yr. old daughter behind the wheel for the first time ever. Actually she did pretty well but she drove off the edge of the driveway, double wide drive way and there was another car parked there, so I'm glad she erred on the side of caution instead of side swiping the other car. It didn't help matters that I had just recently planted new grass where she went off the edge.
One other mistake, she was applying the brakes but the car was still rolling a little when she put it in park. The transmission made a weird sound but there was no evident damage. Over all, she did very well.
