MH370 pilot 'chief suspect' in case of foul play: Report
Times of India ^ | June 22, 2014 | PTI

KUALA LUMPUR: The captain of Flight MH370 has been identified as the prime suspect by a Malaysian police investigation into the disappearance of the plane after checks cleared all other people on board, a media report said today.

The criminal inquiry does not rule out the possibility the Boeing 777-200 plane was lost due to mechanical failure or terrorism, but the police view is that if it was the result of human action, the captain was the most likely perpetrator, The Sunday Times reported.

Malaysia's special branch focused the inquiry on Captain Zaharie Shah, 53, after intelligence checks failed to substantiate any suspicions about the other people on board the jet, the report said....

Detectives conducted more than 170 interviews. They found that Zaharie, an outgoing, married man with a penchant for gadgetry and postings on social media, appeared to have made no social or work commitments for the future, the report said....

The investigators found that Zaharie had programmed a flight simulator in his home with drills rehearsing a flight far out into the southern Indian Ocean and a landing on an island with a short runway.

These were deleted but computer experts were able to retrieve them, the report said.

The pilot had made no secret of his unusual hobby, creating aviation videos that were posted on the Internet.

But behind the facade of a normal family life in a comfortable Kuala Lumpur suburb, with three children and a five-year-old grandson, police heard rumours of marital estrangement and tensions that have been denied by Zaharie's family, it said....

It would be one of the lamest terror attempts

Then again with all the focus on tracking regular normal Americans daily lives by the .gov "protectors" they just might miss the OBVIOUS...

Really? Slight change of subject, but if the Malaysians can do it ... ... We have invented a Fourth World status and we are it.

The people who retrieved them for the Malaysians were our own FBI —

Surprise Surprise!!!

They know their way to Malaysia in southeast Asia but can’t find their way to the IRS in Washington DC.

Consider 9/11 with an EMP, NORK/Nukes, or a chemical weapon payload coming into a large American city (LA, NYC, Washington?) and let you imagination go from there...

You left out bioweapons, but I agree. I think we have to assume the plane is up and functional somewhere, at least until we see the wreckage. Otherwise, a paint job, a busy pattern, an alleged divert/inflight emergency, and there could be a real problem...

If they are capable of stealing the plane in the first place, I am sure they they are capable of masking it long enough (masquerade as a valid plane) to get close enough that no defense would be possible. Remember the goal of the 9/11 terrorists: To show the world at the price of their own lives that America is a paper-tiger that is weak, vulnerable, and lacks the fore-site and commitment to defend themselves from a determined and continued assault.

Believe what you want, I prefer to stay on alert until I see proof that the plane is not a danger...

I was a quick bit this morning, that the search will be moved south a couple hundred miles.

Sounds like they’ve some reason for that, maybe we’ll know more about this in a couple weeks.

Just saying.

<>Sounds like they’ve some reason for that<>

My guess as well because it seems to me that if they knew that the pilot had been targeting a certain island on his computer then that should have figured heavily in their search area — and their initial surface search area was way south and way over by New Amsterdam.

The coordinates for New Amsterdam are: S37.84E77.55 and right close to the final Inmarsat here:

The investigators found that Zaharie had programmed a flight simulator in his home with drills rehearsing a flight far out into the southern Indian Ocean and a landing on an island with a short runway. These were deleted but computer experts were able to retrieve them, the report said.

So...who is lying?

The US Federal Bureau of Investigation recovered no incriminating evidence from the hard drives and a flight simulator belonging to two pilots on Malaysia Airlines flight MH370, the New York Times reported citing anonymous sources.
And

It turned out, however, that neither the simulator nor the deleted data recovered offered any significant information to establish a connection between Zaharie and the mystery of Flight MH370.
For those interested, I found this while browsing for the FBI final results (which have not been made public).

One problem, New Amsterdam is only reachable by boat. The nearest airport is 1500 miles away.

I hate to say it but it sounds like just the place where he would have wanted to go and why he had practiced extreme landings for the last year —

With only 30 people on that island if he could land the plane showing up there with 239 more people then he could be King of New Amsterdam.

“southern Indian Ocean and a landing on an island with a short runway. “

So he may have landed, then took off again while the authorities were still having breakfast and tripping over their shoelaces?

I think “short runway” means that he would be able to get it down but not back up.

Why would an apparently very accomplished pilot practice landings on normal length runways in a computer sim? To me, it makes perfect sense for him to try and hone his skills in the simulation world for a scenario that he might face in the real world.

But that is the point: it’s very apparent that a 777 might be suspicious.

Besides, Moslem MO is to shock and awe. If this plane was to be used, it would be too long waiting for the real action. We know it started, but it should be so fast we can’t do anything about it. Like 9/11.

We’re already aware.

Interesting that somebody wants to make the captain the bad guy. Who would want to do that? hmmmm....

Maybe the people who offed the 20 computer experts who were on their way to China?
