The Big Broadcast is a Sunday night tradition for families throughout the WAMU listening area. Each week, Big Broadcast host Ed Walker offers listeners priceless recordings of popular radio programs from the '30s, '40s and '50s. Priceless, especially, for a man whose first sentence as a child was, 'Turn the radio on.'

Happy Summer radio fans!

How are things this week? I'm back from a business trip to Montreal and am indulging in well earned adult beverages after getting settled in...

I'm liking Burns & Allen, Nightwatch, CBS Workshop will probably be disappointing...and of course we have Lux! But wasn't The Petrified Forest run somewhat recently?

Who's tuning in tonight...

Probably not. But you get honors for the niche reference.

Good Evening...

Hello, FRiends! Just got back from a TEA Party Express rally for Chris McDaniel. It was great! Chuck Woolery, Wayne Allyn Root, Lars Larson and several others spoke.

"The Petrified Forest" is a good story and will make a great Lux. Several years ago, I saw the late 1930s picture starring Humphrey Bogart, Bette Davis and Leslie Howard.

Hi, Alan! Yes, it was a great time. We had too much stuff to get done (am not getting all the housework I should’ve done). Lloyd Marcus was there, and I hate we didn’t stay to meet him, but we had to get going after Chris spoke. Just now, I sent a message to Lloyd through Steve and DeeAnn Stone, who run RenewAmerica.com. Lloyd and I both are columnists for Renew America, and I told him I wished we had had time to say hello to him. Oh, well. A busy, busy day!

Keith’s smoking some pork ribs after a thunderstorm delayed his firing up the Green Egg.

How was your time in Montreal? You’re an international businessman! :-) What are you drinking?

Gina I'm taking over the world.

Cool.

Montreal is very nice until you realize everyone you see is asking for more than 50%+ of each dollar you earn for their own consumption in some way. That said it's charming in the warm months. Lots of feminine women which is nice. The cities are refreshingly nonviolent.

I'm drinking Michelob Ultra punctuated with Captain Morgan.

So what chances do you have with these politicians? Being in MD, that is a foreign world to me...

Right now we’re just trying to get rid of a 41-year RINO incumbent. We’ll take it one step at a time, IF we can overcome the RINO’s campaign pandering to get Democrats to cross over and vote for him in the primary, the dirty rat!

Canada is farther down the socialist (no free speech) road than we are, but we’re “catching up” fast.

In the perverse government money infused MD the political ads are actually running on Obamacare; on who supported it more. It's surreal.

In the words of Ben Franklin “Those who surrender freedom for security will not have, nor do they deserve, either one.”

MD residents are like pigs at a trough...who are confident enough to lecture you on how they know better/
