Good morning!

Tried to watch the hearing last night but couldn’t stomach Cummings!

A.M...do you know anything about Freedompop.com? Supposedly “free” phone/data. Actually 200 voice minutes, 500 text and 500mb per month. I think it’s similar to Net10 or other carriers I’ve seen. Don’t care about the phone but I’d like a mobile data hot spot and back up for our Comcast.

Woot is selling iphone 5 for $329, Samsung Galaxy 2 for $90 or HTC for $70 all refurbs. On the freedompop websit they have hubs, hotspots and dongles which is more what I want but didn’t look at pricing.

Morning!

Our corn is not as far along but coming along nicely! Mr. S put a scarecrow in the garden yesterday. Neighbors must think we’re nuts! lol!

I didn’t watch the hearing either. At work I’ve been streaming Brian Kilmeade on FoxNews radio. Should be interesting to hear what he has to say. REALLY wish I could hear Quinn’s take! He was tweeting quite a bit yesterday.

Mr S was talking about a hot spot as well but we don’t have a cell out here, so it still would not benefit us. Sure would be nice when we’re traveling though.

Three is NO free lunch. It looks like once these folks set the hook.. the free stuff disappears little by little.. and suddenly... OMG!

Here’s what I love about my Tracfone: it has WIFI and triple minutes for life... say I buy 100 minutes.. I get 300 minutes voice, 300 minutes texting, 300 minutes data.. and when I’m on the WIFI I’m not charged a single thing... I really love my tracfone!

Yup, they will increase price. A friend in CA got a similar service...data only for $5/month a couple of years ago. IIRC a gig/month and kinda slow but for back up service he liked it. The last I heard it was up to $10/month but he still liked it. Not available here though.

AM, that’s the phone that Mr S and I have. Tracfone with triple minutes for life. Really came in handy when granddaughter was born. I was texting and sending her photo to the entire family. Believe it or not, I still have minutes left - after almost three month. I’ll have to add time before July 27th though.

It’s a real bargain. My boss told me about it. I don’t know it that special is still running or not.

I didn’t know about the WIFI. I could never get used to the internet on a cell phone. Never use it for that.

Dittos on the tracfone! That’s what mrs p6 and I have and it is fine for us. Youngest son and daughter got....ummm...republic I think. You buy the phone for a couple of hundred but get wifi and decent minutes for $12 per month. Uses wifi most of the time.

Yup those specials are still available. Sometimes good deals on qvc, hsn and woot.

Mrs p6 and I got ours at Dollar General on sale. Mine was $10, hers a bit more with more features but still triple minutes for life.

Best part for us is the coverage. Even tmobile was unreliable at the farm 90 miles north of Pittsburgh but trac works everywhere.

Depends on your app CPU of phone amount of RAM in phone..
I do like the having the weather on my phone.. and GAS BUDDY
.. however, some apps can overload your phone.. I love having more choices.. oh, the movie apps.. you know theaters.. what’s playing when and where.. I enjoy the apps that can make things just a little more fun.. that assist in planning .. sales prices and comparing so you can plan and do the styff that you didn’t do on the PC at home before you left the house.. or, forget to do.. or on the fly stuff.

I stopped pay attention to companies like those .. as soon as you learn about elements of their “losing business plan”.. LOL I mean as soon as you realize there is a man behind the curtain pulling all the levers, throwing all of the switches and he throwing all this money into a BIG BLACK BAG... YIKES!

Hmmm...just for giggles I checked freedompop “blazing fast” data speed. “Up to” 12mbps down, 1.5 up...even my crappy Comcast beats that. Usually 16-25 down, 5 up. On a good day I’ve seen over 50 down but that is not often. Then again it’s cable and freedomopop is 4g.
