Star Wars creator George Lucas has chosen Chicago as the location of a planned museum of his art and movie memorabilia.

A spokesman for Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel says the Lucas Cultural Arts Museum will be built in the Windy City.

The Associated Press says: "It was unclear for weeks whether Chicago or San Francisco would be selected. Some people thought Chicago might have the upper hand because Lucas' wife is from Chicago and because of Emanuel's powers of persuasion.

And dummy Rahm wants to plop this thing next to the convention center, a high traffic area, there will be tons of push back.

I’m sitting within walking distance of 9 Mile at the moment. All is fine. If you’ve never been here, then your loss. If you don’t want to come here, then don’t be a wuss about it.

I remember 9 Mile from when I went to the GM Technical Center on 12 Mile for 12 hours of tunnel runs in 2006. What I saw then was very very sad. I left the Midwest in 1971 when the Army joined me and remember going to Detroit a few times before then. As fascinating as the tunnel experience was, I am glad we only spent three days. One to get in, one to do our work and one to get out.

Then in 2012 was back again to Belle Island for some more car fun, that was even worse. Just driving the short distance to the island from the Marriott at the GM headquarters on Jefferson was heartbreaking. Then if you got off Jefferson, Teheran looked better in 1974. The yacht club going onto the island looked like it was transported from the harbor in 1985 Beirut and not a thing was done to it to make it presentable.

I suppose just living there on 9 Mile it kinda grows on you, but then again Teheran did too. So to call those of us wusses who have an experienced opinion of your fine city says a lot of your tolerance of the truth.

Chicago is watched over by the Dark Lord - never be without your light saber, but keep it hidden.
