General Motors' long stream of recalls and safety-related issues continues, and has now spread to its current small car lineup, after the company told its dealers to stop selling 2013 and 2014 Chevrolet Cruzes because of a potentially defective airbag yesterday. P
The stop-sale order sent to Chevy dealers was originally obtained by the Automotive News. The order was confirmed by a GM spokesperson. P
The driver's-side airbag is "suspect," according to the order, and the inflator module within the airbag "may have been assembled with an incorrect part."P
Is this from Takata?
They have recalled about 7 million airbags worldwide this year.

The answer is more money from the taxpayers.
Why would GM stop selling this Obama turd of a car? Just because its dangerous?
If someone is stupid enough to actually buy this ugly government motors POS in the first place, they deserve the fallout.
This sounds different than the Takata problem, which is apparently long-tern exposure to moisture.
They should stop selling it for the stupid name alone.
Car rental companies are buying this model is large numbers, and putting them on the road everywhere.
I know because I rented one just a couple weeks ago after being given the choice of “Chevy Cruze” and “Chevy Cruze” in the size automobile I had intentions of renting. No Toyota Corolla, or Ford Focus, or even Dodge Dart.
I could upgrade for a few bucks more per day, to a Chevy Impala, but in the interests of thrift, I declined. And the engineering would have been different in no significant way.
Stopping the sale of this car will put lots of Mexicans and Chinese out of work...
Even stupider name is the Chevy Spark, especially with all the recall problems.
The Takata recall was because the airbag supposedly accidentally deploys in warm, humid weather. Which really bothers me because there were never any real incidents of such deployments in Japan during the hot, humid summers in that country (the home islands of Kyushu, Shikoku and the western part of Honshu can get as hot and humid as the US Southeast in August).
