Long Island Facility Eyed to House Influx of Immigrant Children
A Long Island facility is being eyed as possible temporary housing for some of the thousands of children streaming over the U.S.-Mexico border without guardians.
The federal government is considering using Peregrine Business Park at 15 Grumman Road, a former Grumman Corp. facility in Bethpage, according to Newsday. It's one of five New York facilities that the government has examined, the paper said.
Rep. Steve Israel, a Democrat representing Huntington, said "it is not a viable solution to simply place unaccompanied children from Central America in temporary shelters."
The General Services Administration told Newsday that no decision has been made.

NYC deserves every bit of trouble and tribulation caused by these invaders. Let them pay for it.

Great! Texas needs to get the buses rolling for NYC and other points in the Democrat east. These are the states that believe in Obama, and he engineered this debacle to pressure Boehner into passing amnesty. Looks like that’s not happening, so these squatters will be with us for a long, long time.
I moved - or should I say escaped - from there two years ago and I grew up there, best thing I ever did. My brother is still there and he said it’s absolute hell on earth, all the city does is use every excuse they can to steal his money. I keep telling him GET THE F OUT OF THERE, especially since De Blasio tied the hands of the cops when it comes to terror prevention. Murder has also shot through the roof because again De Blasion tied the hands of the cops. So not only are people being ripped off, their lives are in danger. So my family has been yelling at him for the past year to get the hell out before it’s to late, but he won’t listen, he seems to think NYC is the center of the universe, I told him he’s a complete sucker and he’s going to regret it big time. Not only is he going to lose all the money he’s saved for years, his life is also in jeopardy. Even if he survives a terror attack or a mugging, the health problem could go on for the rest of his life.
Send them to the Hamptons. Should go over well there. Lots of big houses to keep them warm and cozy. I hear they are all so very generous.
I certainly sympathize with you. I have a 39 year old son that lives in Manhattan. He absolutely loves it. For a heterosexual man with a good job and money, he gets all the type of female attention he thinks he wants.
That said, he IS paying out the wazoo for it, and his penchant for loose stupid liberal women will eventually transition to something that transcends just sex - at least, I am hoping. But, he’s not there yet. I keep telling him to get the hell out of that Godless foreign infested, corrupt city, but he’s not ready. In fact, he’s shamed me into flying up there soon with my daughter to meet his latest girlfriend. I have absolutely no interest in seeing anything there at all - none. I am trying to figure out what the shortest amount of time is that I can spend there and not piss him off, my daughter too.
Most cities and even large towns that aren't suburban la-la lands have a fragile mix of blacks, lower income whites, and the various hispanic groups. In cities and towns that run pretty well, law enforcement and neighborhood communities are aware of potential "hot spots" where clashes could occur. It's a real delicate balance, and around here anyway, the hispanics are at least four different groups.
What's my point? When more hispanics from central America are added to the mix, it's going to upset that balance. It could get weird in a long hot summer.
It's naive for the DC crowd to treat hispanics as one group that absorbs this influx. It's stupid for them to not realize that a lot of these teens from Central America will be exploited and end up involve in sex and drug trafficking. It's hateful to not care that this new influx will further stretch services in already fragile neighborhoods.
This influx of illegals should be met promptly with spiritual care and lessons in virtue. Put them to work cleaning the streets and then feed them for their work. As they fester under the bureaucratic nightmare espoused by liberals, teach them how free they can be with some individual effort given toward the betterment of all. Able bodied people, whether citizens or not, have a duty to at least do menial tasks for their meals and housing.
Then the Democrats have a big celebration when they reunite the families ,maybe while Congress is on summer vacation

Back here in realville, they’ll immediately be given EBT cards, free housing, education, healthcare and enrolled in various welfare programs....compliments of you and I.

I agree with your assessment of NYC. But, strange to say, I have a neighbor (or had, since I moved away) in suburban Boston who could imagine nothing better for himself than to be able to afford a decent apartment and retire to NYC. It’s the culture, don’t you know.
Interesting case, because he’s often sensible, but his opinions get molded by his liberal wife and his too frequent reading of the NYT.
Retire to NYC ?? Does he know NYC is like living in North Korea but with food? Well if he is into having every single aspect of his life monitored, controlled and dictated, then NYC is certainly the place for him, but I would pass on that. Actually now that I think about it, NYC is not like North Korea with food. In North Korea they allow you to eat anything you want - when you can get it. In NYC eating what you want is not allowed.
