An unknown suspect got away with more than $25,000 from McKendrick’s Steakhouse in Dunwoody Thursday morning. A man had just returned from the bank to the restaurant located in 4000 block of Ashford Dunwoody Road and had a bag of the restaurant’s money, at which time an unidentified man approached him from behind with a large silver handgun, according to Dunwoody police.

$26,000 + in cash seems like a lot of cash to be bringing IN to a restaurant before business. Why would they need that much cash for even a weekend? I would think that much of their business would be cash, so they need change, but a lot would be credit card transactions.
Don’t know. Never been in the restaurant business, but since a bank robber nets less than $3,500 per caper on average, you would think knocking over restaurants would be the better business move. Just like in the film ‘Pulp Fiction’
A lot of supplier transactions might be in cash.
I think this robbery might bring some unwanted scrutiny. Just a guess.
I was once in a Hughes market around 6am when a full grocery bag of money was placed at the end of the checkout counter I was at. A small safe was against the wall nearby. This in front of the store right by the big windows and of course the doors. I thought it was a stupid thing to do.
These guys at the restaurant probably do this as a routine and someone was watching for a pattern. Or an insider working there tipped off an accomplice. You see that dumpster in blue nearby. It is more protected then the guy with all the money.
A “silver handgun”. Much more dangerous than an ordinary “steel handgun” but not as dangerous as a “gold handgun”. I wonder if it contained gold plated bullets. Silver if dealing with vampires.

Have you checked the price of steak at the grocery store lately?
I have eaten there a number of times and it is very expensive. Maybe when a credit card is used, the tip is paid out to the server with cash from the restaurant?
I agree with Jim. This robbery sounds suspicious.
And if you are paying your suppliers in cash, then that only adds to the suspicions.
I bet a lot of the transactions at the Ravenite Social Club were in cash too. Just sayin’.

What business in their right mind has an EMPLOYEE go to the bank for 25k??? This is usually delivered by armored vehicle with armed guards. Just plain stupid
This size of cash is usually delivered by armored vehicle. Seems like an inside job. How else would they know when the person was coming to work with the funds???

You may be right about the tip. Once when I paid with a credit card, I asked the waitress if she really gets the tip amount from the card. She showed me how the cashier gets her cash right from the till immediately.
I used to have my office in Dunwoody and I went occasionally to McKendricks for a business lunch. Yummy!
