Skip to comments.Miss Delaware Amanda Longacre: 'Not fair' she was stripped of crown due to her age

Amanda Longacre was riding high as the new Miss Delaware, looking forward to competing in the 2015 Miss America pageant in September -- until officials stripped her of her crown due to an age violation. You must be 17-24 to compete in the Miss America pageant.
While Longacre is 24 now (and will be at the time of the 2015 Miss America pageant), she turns 25 in October and apparently that is not allowed. However, Longacre says that pageant officials told her that as long as she was 24 at the time of the pageant, she was fine.
What is so upsetting to Longacre after winning and then losing the crown is that at no point in the process did anyone say a word, despite checking her driver's license, Social Security card and birth certificate prior to the pageants she competed in on her way to Miss America.

So did offficals tell her it was fine or did no one say a word?
Either way.... I don’t care. But...
Miss American pageant has more stringent guidelines than what we have for United States President. Miss Delaware just needs to fire up Photoshop and create a Hawaiian birth certificate.
It’s the state of Delaware — what did she expect???
Tough to be told you’re too old when you’re just 24,
Surely she must have had to fill out an application or something that spelled out these rules. She probably did not read the fine print, and now playing the “dumb victim” card.
No if you had read the whole story, she complied with all the rules every step of the way, only to have them changed on her after she won.
Rules are rules.I see no “unfairness” here.A foolish policy perhaps but not “unfair”.
She can feel free to wear her swimsuit at my place. I’ll overlook her advanced age.
Looks like the pickings were slim in DE.
Probably some friend of Joe Biden has a daughter who was 1st Runner Up...
She followed all the rules. They changed the rules after she won. But you'd know that if you had RTFA.
Miss Rhode Island might have a shot at the title now.
So not guilty. Hey, I’m looking for an old maid.
Too bad they don’t run politics, maybe then a foreign born Islamic supporter of Al-Qaeda, the Taliban, ISIS and foreign invaders wouldn’t be POTUS.

And BTW...do you kiss your mother with that mouth?
But it was good!
haha. but apparently that is not part of the talent assessment.
Ever drive through Delaware? I did it once, through the chicken farm areas near Easton. Holey Moley. Most slack-jawed, mouth-breathing, inbred-looking area I’ve been in, including Pittsburgh. This woman is a true Delaware beauty queen, regardless of her age.
My best girl is from Wilmington - voted most unfriendly city in the US. Its very cliquey in Delaware. Everyone knows one another or at least is 3 degrees from someone.
That was Ms. Teen Delaware.
Actually, it’s the Miss America pageant corporation. Still one thing not under control of government.
The word "apparently" means they're just guessing.
She should claim she is trans-age, and identifies as 23.
Then she could threaten to sue for cis-age discrimination. What right do they have to deny a person the age they identify with?
