NASA to launch global warming satellite after loss
The Sentinel ^ | 6-29-2014

Posted on 06/29/2014 2:05:09 PM PDT by Citizen Zed

Five years after a NASA satellite to track carbon dioxide plunged into the ocean after liftoff, the space agency is launching a carbon copy — this time on a different rocket.

The $468 million mission is designed to study the main driver of climate change emitted from smokestacks and tailpipes. Some of the carbon dioxide is sucked up by trees and oceans, and the rest is lofted into the atmosphere, trapping the sun's heat and warming the planet.

NASA suffered a major scientific — and financial — disaster in 2009 when a rocket carrying the original satellite plummeted into the waters off Antarctica minutes after soaring from Vandenberg Air Force Base along the central California coast.

Does this indicate a polar orbit?
I heard those were harder to reach?

So how is watching tailpipes and smokestacks form space cheaper than watching them form the ground. We all know that NASA is remissoned to promote Islam.

Our gov’t prostituting science.

Do you suppose there’s any chance the data interpretation hasn’t already been written?

Most climate satellites are polar orbits. As the earth rotates below them, they get very close to full earth coverage. Getting to a polar orbit isn’t significantly harder, they choose the launch sites to make it easier.

There is so much ego and marketable credibility invested in this dead fish, it will take a three hard winters to for some people to reexamine their understanding of "science."

Meanwhile, the stink coming from Al Gore's full diaper ruins the view for everyone else. The Military-Industrial-Science complex seems to be churning right along, launching them rockets.

Harrison Schmidt straightened a lot of people out. Can't think of a better Vice President.

Another example of Moose-limbs contribuion to the culture ,
as advocated by the "New , and Improved NASA ".
Transpiration and Photosynthesis of green plants require Carbon Dioxide .
The 'potted plant' in the White Hut just needs more "Chomb"
What a waste of Oxygen !

I wonder if it records temperature data too. I could see them easily writing the programming so that it adds a few 10ths of a centigrade to the actual temperature and then to program it to keep increasing at an accelerated rate every year. Then after a few years they can say see...

They launch a satellite to collect data on a dis-proven gloBULL warming theory...and the rocket emits tons of pollution, dropping the satellite into pristine Antarctic ocean, polluting it?????? What complete asses! Aside from the money wasted...these morons funding this BS and those ayt NASA who are complicit should be arrested and exiled. How do these fools sleep? It is like the windmill asses chopping-up raptors and other birds. Sheesh...enough already, you LIB jerks.

Let's say that NASA and global warming alarmists are right about global warming. It remains that the federal government must still address global warming concerns within the framework of the Constitution.
FR: Never Accept the Premise of Your Opponent’s Argument

And speaking of NASA, the states have never delegated to the feds, expressly via the Constitution, the specific power to appropriate funds for space exploration or atmospheric study purposes. So right off the bat, NASA needs to do the following.

To preserve its very existence, NASA needs to encourage Congress to propose a space exploration and atmospheric study amendment to the Constitution to the states for ratification. And if the states choose to ratify the amendment then Congress will have the specific power that it needs to make appropriations bills to fund NASA for such purposes and NASA will be a hero.

But also consider that the states have never delegated to Congress, expressly via the Constitution, the specific power to regulate environemental issues even if atmospheric studies reveal problems. So both NASA and global warming alarmists also have to encourage Congress to propose an amendment to the states which would grant Congress the specific power that it needs to legislatively address environmental issues. And if the states choose to ratify that amendment then Congress will have the constitutional authority that it needs to protect the environment and global warming alarmists will be heroes along with NASA.

Why are they screwing around with this? Just say you launched the satellite, declare it has found significant global warming and bag the $450 million for the DNC.

The Mediacrats won’t question it.

Vandy was built up for shuttle launches in the 80s just for polar orbits. The shuttle didn't need those orbits. Over a billion was wasted for a facility that was mothballed and never used.

Unlikely to have indicated a polar orbit, if it failed before achieving low earth orbit. Generally satellites enter a low earth orbit, with an inclination equal to the launch latitude. Once in low earth orbit, they perform transfer maneuvers. I suppose a polar orbit would be most useful for giving worldwide coverage, so I would not be surprised.

How is a heavier than air gas “lofted” into the atmosphere. This raises the question in my mind, how far up does co2 go?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AvpenpBXAmM

The above link is a simple demonstration showing the physical activity of co2 in the atmosphere.
