Five years after a NASA satellite to track carbon dioxide plunged into the ocean after liftoff, the space agency is launching a carbon copy — this time on a different rocket.
The $468 million mission is designed to study the main driver of climate change emitted from smokestacks and tailpipes. Some of the carbon dioxide is sucked up by trees and oceans, and the rest is lofted into the atmosphere, trapping the sun's heat and warming the planet.
NASA suffered a major scientific — and financial — disaster in 2009 when a rocket carrying the original satellite plummeted into the waters off Antarctica minutes after soaring from Vandenberg Air Force Base along the central California coast.

Most climate satellites are polar orbits. As the earth rotates below them, they get very close to full earth coverage. Getting to a polar orbit isn’t significantly harder, they choose the launch sites to make it easier.

I wonder if it records temperature data too. I could see them easily writing the programming so that it adds a few 10ths of a centigrade to the actual temperature and then to program it to keep increasing at an accelerated rate every year. Then after a few years they can say see...
Why launch a satellite? They make up all the data already.
Ironically, the Rocket, make that both Rockets, have and will create more Globull Warming Gasses than all of Al Gore’s, Oprah’s, Barbra Streisand’s, Mayor Doomberg’s and Hillary Clinton’s Houses combined.

They launch a satellite to collect data on a dis-proven gloBULL warming theory...and the rocket emits tons of pollution, dropping the satellite into pristine Antarctic ocean, polluting it??????
