Posted on 06/29/2014 8:22:34 PM PDT by RC one
Residents of Detroit, Michigan who are $150 or two months past-due on their water bills are having their water shut off by the bankrupt city. Now, even the United Nations has stepped in, saying Detroit is in violation of the human right to water.

When you run out of tax payers ,you run out of MONEY
Does the UN tolerate Islam?
Then, they obviously don’t give a smelly Obama about human rights.
And, therefore, can shove their silly little opinions up their Obamaholes.
Somebody help me out here. The UN has gotten involved in this?
So instead of trying to help third world countries that really need help obtaining water they are focusing on Detroit???
(rhetorical post only. No reply required. I just needed to vent.)
What about the human right to be paid for one’s labor? I’m all for the UN stepping in and paying these bills if they wish though.
This smacks of one world government, and is unacceptable.
Guess that includes a human right to cable, internet, gas, electricity, food, shelter...
So the working people of Detroit have to pay for those who don’t or won’t ...? If they want water isn’t there a large lake nearby?
“The UN has no business in what Detroit or any other municipality does.”
That is correct. But the good thing is, them blue helmets make a pretty good sight picture.
lol. ‘human rights’ don’t exist. Only God-given rights.
“Perhaps we should cut off the water to the UN.”
It is time to cut the UN and set them comopletely adrift. Cut off water. Cut off their right to be in NYC. Send the stinking A$$holes who are the UN back to their third world habitations. Where they get no ‘free’ pure water. Where they have to live back with the poverty they created. Get them out of anything to do with US. And for the Islamofaciest, half breed commie Kenyan, send him back to Kenya, where he can help that third world hell hole a better place.
(You’re getting a reply anyway, venting or not)
Detroit meets every delevant definition of a 3rd world country.
Plenty of Islamists on UN "human rights" panels. Detroit is near the country of Dearbornistan.
Hey Lady, You can afford a big flat screen TV and XBox but can’t pay the water bill?
I bet they have the top-tier cable package too
Both very valid points.
I wonder if one is related to another in some way. ;)
Some detroit group asked them to step in.
This is Detroit, Just go out to the sidewalk, find a wrench and turn the frigging water back on. I bet 50% of the burned out houses that infest Detroit still has their water turned on....
Funny thing is, Detroit gets its water from lake Huron, about 10 miles north of Port Huron and pipes it all the way down to the city. But I know what you’re saying: water shut off? grab a bucket, chump.
Detroit is slowly becoming a third world country. Hence...
Cable TV box...
Little wonder she can’t pay her water bill, I think.
And ban all toilet paper to that building.
The LA Times printed this picture of a resident who couldn’t pay her water bill. I’m pretty sure I know where she could save enough each month to afford to pay her bill. http://www.latimes.com/nation/la-na-detroit-water-20140629-story.html#page=1
I’m not aware of any country in the world where urban piped water is free, particularly not potable water.
Did the UN tweet this? They are not serious if it was not tweeted!!!
I think Detroit should be a wake up call for all reasonable Americans. Detroit is the end product of the poisonous policies of the Democratic party. Today it's Detroit but there are a lot of cities out there that aren't far behind.M
I don’t even have a Big Screen TV. The Set I have is like 25 years old.
Guess they spent their earned income refund wisely.
